The Digital Communications Specialist supports the Senior Digital Campaign Manager in the strategic creation and use of digital communications within API's External Mobilization department. The incumbent is responsible for the successful creation of content management, and execution of campaigns across multiple platforms and mediums to support the department's grassroots and grasstops campaigns. Ability to manage multiple campaigns at once and an attention to communication strategy will be a critical component for this position. This position will have the opportunity to experiment and implement new methods of online engagement for API.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • 360-degree communications planning including creation of emails, broadcast text, letters to the editors, website copy, social media copy, and other content requested on an as needed basis to support the External Mobilization department
  • Assist in measuring and tracking the success of digital campaigns based on KPIs
  • Finding opportunities to leverage content and news articles for social media channels and other organic content
  • Supporting data and targeting partners in assisting with their acquisition, cultivation, and activation advocacy efforts
  • Project management of quality control and approvals process of advocacy content, ensuring feedback/approval has been given to all stakeholders in the integrated advocacy team
  • Supporting the Mobilization Senior Digital Campaign Manager
  • Supporting integrated advocacy within API
  • Work with the Mobilization Senior Digital Campaign Manager to set goals and a content calendar

Key Relationships

This position reports to the Senior Digital Campaign Manager. This role will be integral in the support of the External Mobilization team's Campaign Managers execution of campaigns.

It will use writing, collaborating, strategic thinking, and digital tools to assist with the conceptualization, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of natural gas and oil policy at the state and federal level - including government relations, advocacy, and legislative activities, and they will contribute to the execution of the department's legislative agenda.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 0-3 years of experience in a similar role and general knowledge/skills in a particular field of study.
  • Experience in politics, grassroots, advocacy, communications, public affairs or mobilization is preferred, but not required.
  • Proven experience and successful track record in executing a social media program, email communications program, or text messaging program
  • Monitoring and experimenting with new trends and best practices across social media and other digital platforms
  • Passionate about social media trends, social media, and online engagement
  • Creative and professional writing, editing and communication skills are a must
  • Possesses and values organizational and analytical skills
  • Values teamwork and collaborating internally and across departments
  • Native user of multiple social media platforms
  • Quick learner of new tools and platforms (Salesforce CRM or Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience not required, but preferred)
  • A self-starter who is intensely creative and willing to experiment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time and be flexible
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, with both internal and external audiences

Physical Requirements

  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer
  • Move about the office to access office machinery, meeting rooms, etc. on occasion
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines
  • Transport items and equipment up to 10 lbs. on occasion

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25%
