Primary Purpose

This is a temporary position. Will work Full Time (40 hours a week) to cover for medical leave. Expected duration is 3 months.

The Dining Services Cashier is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service, processing sales quickly, accurately and efficiently. Additional duties include keeping dining area clean and orderly, stocking items for dining customers, setting up continential breakfast area each morning.
Description of Essential Functions

Cashiering (75% of Time)
  1. Provide excellent customer service to all students, staff and general public regarding cashiering, meal plan processes.
  2. Respond to student questions regarding meal plan options, requirements and eligibility.
  3. Work with little supervision, problem-solve and make immediate decisions concerning the services provided at the Dining Services.
  4. Responsible for receipting and reconciling all types of monies including all register and point of sale activities.

Dining Service Support (25% of time)
  1. Responsible for restocking food, snacks, and drinks.
  2. Responsible for monitoring food/drink inventories and communicating inventory needs to Executive Chef.
  3. Maintain cleanliness of dining area; including but not limited to tables, chairs, and floors.
  4. Assist in inventory counts as directed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum one (1) year customer service experience with cashiering responsibilities required.

  • A level of computer literacy sufficient to produce documents as may be required by the position.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using the English language with or without the use of an interpreter.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including (addition and subtraction) necessary to inventory and verify inventories.
  • Ability to work effectively and sensitively with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives, and abilities.
  • Ability to model and ensure diversity and cultural competency (respect, inclusiveness, reflecting, valuing, and welcoming cultural differences) in all position responsibilities regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, social class, sexual orientation, ability, nationality, age, language, origin, or employment status.
  • Ability to consistently convey a pleasant and helpful attitude by using excellent interpersonal and communication skills to control sometimes stressful and emotional situations. Requires sufficient communication and human relations skills to resolve complaints/issues, defuse anger, and gain cooperation that may include but are not limited to loans, billing statements, collection issues, and agency authorizations.
  • Ability to perform, data entry in the college-wide Student Information System, word processing and spreadsheet applications. Exhibit a high level of computer literacy, sufficient to use software such as word processing, spreadsheets and databases to produce correspondence, documents and reports. Sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate office computer, typewriter and calculator.
  • Ability to understand and access various files in the computer to verify accuracy of student and conferencing meal plans registration, costs, and other pertinent data including accounts payable, billing, receipting and cashiering.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR LICENSES:
  • Current or must obtain Oregon Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certification within thirty (30) days of employment.
