JOB SUMMARY: Performs a variety of duties in the cafe and dietary department including, opening, stocking, running the register, keeping the cafe neat and clean, and assisting customers. The cashier is responsible for the till and daily cafe revenue report. Adheres to and practices the St. John's Health Corporate Compliance Program and participates in Performance Improvement activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Opens the cafe in time with cash in the drawer, coffee made and door unlocked by 6:30 AM.
•Stocks cafe with everything necessary for service including silverware, cups, napkins, condiments, and the contents of the coolers.
•Assists with stocking the salad bar when needed.
•Maintains a clean environment in the cafe.
•Runs the register, assisting customers. Interacts with all patients, staff, and other customers with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
•Counts and maintains the till and the bank, completing the cash report and deposit at the end of the shift.
•Orders change when needed.
•Contribute to on-going process improvement, helping to identify issues and create solutions.
•Completes other tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Required: Ability to interface with all hospital staff and patients in a positive and team-oriented manner. Good interpersonal , communication, phone, and customer service skills. Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Ability to adjust to fluctuation job demands, meet assigned deadlines, and work independently. Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to multi-task. Basic computer skills.

Preferred: One to five years experience with hospital or hospitality food service preferred. Prefer healthcare experience. Prefer advanced computer skill.

FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS
Working Conditions: Healthcare setting, production kitchen with potential hazards such as steam, hot surfaces, sharp instruments, and cleaning chemicals. Working in confined spaces with temperature ranges from 0 to 90 degrees. Must be on-site at the St. John's campus or other facilities to perform the duties of the role.

Physical Requirements: 90% of shift standing and walking. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing and pulling required. Intermittent sitting and computer use. Must be able to work 10 hour shifts.

Internal and External Contacts: interacts daily with co-workers, patients, physicians, vendors, delivery drivers, and other SJH staff.
