Overview:

The Operations Supervisor reports directly to the Assistant Operations Manager. The Operations Supervisor will direct, supervise, and assist in scheduling all aspects of the operations changeover staff and workflow for all event changes. Assists in ensuring an effective and cost-efficient department, while maintaining OSHA compliance and working cooperatively with other departments to assure facility readiness and smooth operation of events.

This role will pay a salary of $24.50 to $26.00.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist Operations Manager with developing and implementing operational changeover policies and procedures for operations changeover staff that are consistent with arenas policies and procedures.
  • Assist Operations Manager in the Scheduling, training, evaluation, and discipline of the operations changeover staff.
  • Plans, directs, and supervises the planning of the operations changeover staff to ensure quality and timeliness of work.
  • Maintains departmental record-keeping system to ensure accurate documentation of personnel files.
  • Works in conjunction with Operations Manager and Human Resources to fill all staffing requirements.
  • Generates accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for the operations changeover personnel.
  • Monitors and suggests applicable revenue/expenditures for the Operations department.
  • Assists Operations Manager with safety training and enforcing safety policies and procedures for Operations Changeover staff.
  • Anticipate problems and appropriate solutions for all operations/changeover related work, including but not limited to arena configuration, event production, and backstage needs. Investigates, analyzes, and resolves operational problems and complaints.
  • Assist operations changeover staff with setups and changeovers as needed, including training, teaching, and showing staff.
  • Aids in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment and makes recommendations for purchases.
  • Coordinates the operations changeover activities with other building departments and show-related contractors.
  • Review event documents for operational/changeover/setup requirements.
  • Follow and enforce facility rules, regulation policies and procedures.
  • Work effectively under pressure and or/ stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, scissor lifts or other light power-driven equipment as needed.
  • Adheres to OSHA and other applicable safety codes.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered during the course of employment.
  • Know and guarantee all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the ability to perform all essential duties and responsibilities in a satisfactory manner. Must possess a valid drivers license and have a reliable form of transportation. Due to essential personnel status, must maintain an effective way to be reached after normal work hours.
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university, and two (2+) years related experience with event related setups in the public assembly industry (stadiums, arenas, and/or convention centers). Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written.
  • Ability to prepare written correspondence including but not limited to routine reports, evaluations, and presentations.
  • Ability to make judgments and decisions as necessary.
  • Demonstrated skill use with common hand tools and power tools.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office, Email, and arena CMMS software
  • Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Also ability to work longer than scheduled shift, prior to scheduled shift and through breaks and lunch time if work requires.
  • Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, scissor lifts, bobcat, scrubbing machines.
  • Previous supervisory experience with event related setup/changeover experience, preferably in a concert or sports arena/facility.
  • Possess a demonstrated knowledge of ice making process.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
  • Working from various heights.
  • Extensive time spent with moderate to loud noises.
  • Frequent bending, lifting 50 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building.
