JOB TITLE: EHS Manager

EMPLOYER: Portobello America

Summary

The EHS and Lean Process Manager would be responsible for leading all aspects of safety and environmental permitting for a modern manufacturing facility. This is a true manufacturing startup. The ideal candidate will review, develop, and implement behavioral based Safety policies. Position will be responsible for the creation of EHS initiatives along with understanding and focus on lean processes including Organization and 5S, including Key Performance Indicators and metrics. This position will coordinate all training involved in Health and Safety programs and certifications.

Duties/Responsibilities

Safety

  • Five or more years in a direct Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) role associated with manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to collaboratively develop and drive the daily activities and strategic EHS direction for the organization.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment across all disciplines within the organization.
  • This position requires an understanding of OSHA, Worker's Compensation, EPA, NFPA, FM Global, and DOT requirements and how these regulations impact our business.
  • Experience in root cause assessments, hazardous waste management, training, quality, and customer interfaces are highly desired.
  • Support regulatory compliance and certification requirements
  • Oversee internal auditing to ensure regulatory compliance and certification
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Organizational

  • Microsoft Office Suite skills with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint & Word expert required
  • Expertise in developing and managing: Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems and Management Accountability Systems, Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S/Workplace Organization expert required
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management operations, data analytics, Industrial Engineering, warehouse types (ambient, temp control, warehouse layout/ design and Lean methods
  • Knowledge working with HRM systems (e.g ADP Workforce) and Human Resources
  • Knowledge on team member hiring/on-boarding
  • Develop a thorough, effective, and timely strategic and continuous improvement plan to address the top business needs at Portobello America
  • Ensure process improvement across all business activities are driven to achieve dramatic improvement in the key business metrics
  • Provide regular reports of data and actions to measure progress against strategic business objectives
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring: must be able to translate all Business System concepts and strategic objectives to local situations and help all levels of the organization develop understanding and application of tools for sustainable business improvements.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Be able to lead the team and promote the message ‘Safety First, Quality Always’.
  • 5+ years of experience in EHS management preferably in a manufacturing company at the plant or corporate level.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • One direct report.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in EHS.
  • Working knowledge of the laws, regulations, practices and procedures concerned with the field of environmental permitting in Tennessee (TDEC Title V) and EPA.
  • Able to lead and grow teams and policies from the ground up.
  • Lead the initiative to achieve VPP status.
  • Proficient in Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate solid time management and organizational skills.
