Job Description
Rinker Design Associates, LLC, (RDA), a leading provider of professional civil engineering to the public and private sectors, is actively seeking an experienced Automotive Technician to join our team and be responsible for performing general repairs and maintenance on our fleet of vehicles. This role is part-time or as needed on evenings and weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adheres to RDA guidelines.
  • Performs lube, oil, and filter changes by draining and replacing oil and filter, and lubricating all joints, including idler arm steering knuckles, tie rod ends, and ball joints.
  • Checks battery, tire air pressure, windshield fluid, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid levels and refills as needed.
  • Checks coolant level and refills as necessary.
  • Rotates tires based on the manufacturer’s recommendation.
  • Checks tire tread depth and recommends replacement when needed.
  • Ensures that vehicles are clean and free of fluid residue or fingerprints.
  • Check fluid level prior to the release of the vehicle to ensure proper levels.
  • Maintains vehicle records as repairs are completed.
  • Monitors for upcoming VA State inspection and emissions when required.
  • Observes all Federal, State, Local, and Company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Tasks That May Be Completed During Scheduled Repairs

  • Brake/rotors.
  • Gaskets/valve cover replacements.
  • Spark plugs/coils.
  • Brake flush/transmission flush.
  • Battery replacements.
  • Diagnostics.

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive parts and systems.
  • Demonstrable mechanical skills and knowledge.
  • Technical training or commensurate technical experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Basic computer skills.
