PAW Health Network in Wausau, WI is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team at our 24-hour Veterinary Care Center. We offer a wide range of services to the community, including walk-ins, routine care, urgent care, shelter medicine, and massage therapy. Compensation:

$20 - $25 hourly Based On Experience

Responsibilities:
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with caregivers and colleagues
  • Assist Caregiver Support Staff and Medical Support Staff in their primary duties, including handling phone calls, caregiver data, database management, medical records, processing, and accounts receivable
  • Conduct follow-ups with caregivers when necessary to maintain service quality or schedule remediation
  • Provide immediate patient support by sharing relevant medical information and instructions
  • Triage and support incoming patients based on care urgency and available resources
  • Interpret and help implement written medical records
  • Maintain electronic medical records accurately to monitor care and conditions
  • Manage clinic laboratory personnel and tasks effectively
  • Collect and process laboratory samples such as blood, urine, feces, tissue, and free fluid using various methods
  • Collaborate with the team for patient assessments, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Assist in administering vaccinations to animals
  • Support in surgical procedures and dental prophylaxis
  • Monitor and assist in all sedation and anesthesia events
  • Provide first aid and euthanasia support
  • Demonstrate service-oriented actions and quick adaptability to changing conditions
  • Maintain organization and oversee multiple activities simultaneously
  • Follow instructions while being able to work independently
  • Uphold the mission of delivering excellence to patients and caregivers
  • Understand hospital operations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
  • Assist in inventory control to prevent losses
Qualifications:

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Current unrestricted license/certification in veterinary technology within the State of Wisconsin
  • Candidates with an active license in other states are welcome to apply
  • Candidates who have formerly held a technical license and are able to re-certify are welcome to apply
  • Current enrollment in an accredited veterinary technician program

Education and Experience

  • A degree in Veterinary Technology is encouraged; however, not necessary
  • Accredited candidates of all experience levels will be considered
  • All candidates will be provided training in both process and medical skills

Computer Skills

  • Demonstrates proficiency in using computers, practice management software, and standard work/spreadsheet software. Must be able to utilize or learn scheduling modules/software
  • Experience in using Henry Schein Improved or Infiniti patient database platform preferred but not required
