Responsible for formulating and executing strategies to grow insurance membership, optimize go to market strategies, enhance product offerings, and ensure the financial health of the VSP Vision insurance portfolio.
Lead the roadmap development, vision, and execution of VSP Vision insurance product development (new features, lines of business, etc.).
Guide the product strategy with knowledge of the insurance industry, regulatory environment, and industry and operational dynamics.
Responsible for cultivating and fostering connections with external strategic partners that align with VSP Vision goals and objectives. Identifies potential business opportunities, negotiating partnerships, and maintaining long-term relationships.
Survey the insurance landscape to identify use cases and markets for VSP Vision insurance products.
Ensure the achievement of operating objectives and growth and operational efficiencies of the business through assessment of risk tolerance, market appetite, and emerging risk/underwriting issues.
Overall Profit & Loss responsibility; develop insurance business/product strategies to maximize enterprise value creation through sustainable growth and high-quality customer experiences.
Responsible for the strategy to scale insurance operational efficiencies (e.g., service handling, capacity, structure) in a way that is client/customer centric
Coordinate carrier partnership development and distribution strategy.
Build out the ecosystem of (re)sellers with creative partnerships and manage relationships with key performance indicators.
Work with senior leadership to ensure all state and product initiatives are compliant with regulations and align with company strategies.
Develop and demonstrate a clear understanding of the market, VSP Vision's line of business offerings, go-to-market strategies, competitors, partners, and key trends and factors influencing the market over the next five years.
Leveraging market, financial, and business insights, develop and lead cross-Strategic Business Unit growth efforts that drive new revenue streams while taking bold, innovative, and entrepreneurial approaches to advance the vision care business while taking into consideration impacts to our stakeholders - members, clients, brokers, doctors, and employees.
Collaborate with Executive Leadership, the Board, and internal network to align new growth strategies and business models with company strategy to achieve more targeted, measurable goals and greater market impact.
Job Specifications
Typically has the following skills or abilities:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field, or equivalent experience.
Ten or more years of experience with clear progression to senior leadership/management roles, leading and motivating cross-functional interdisciplinary teams to achieve strategic goals.
Deep relevant executive-level leadership as Chief Insurance Officer within a large commercial insurance organization or equivalent with significant experience as both a strategic leader (financial, operational, strategic oversight) and in execution/implementation.
Demonstrated acumen in scaling entrepreneurial and high-growth organizations. Proven ability to be an effective strategist and outstanding operational leader for enterprise-wide transformation.Lead/drive change. Monitor/measure return on major investments and role model sound fiduciary oversight.
Nimble and agile; can operate creatively and effectively in a resource-constrained environment and has demonstrable capabilities in leading change.
Demonstrated track record in successfully devising and implementing systems and processes that enable significant growth and operational effectiveness. Heighten the team's capability to bring fact-based analysis and actionable insights to internal decision-makers.
Excellent people management skills and ability to lead large and globally distributed teams effectively, including building bench strength and succession planning at executive levels.
Highly collaborative role model, effective in building relationships, influencing and instilling confidence in the board, management, and staff.
Ability to drive initiatives forward to a successful conclusion. Leads decisively. Highly accountable, holds others accountable to drive positive results.
Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of job duties.
