Reporting to the agency's Chief Information Security Officer, you will serve as the agency's senior cybersecurity analyst responsible for safeguarding the integrity of IT systems that are critical to providing the services our customers and employer partners rely on to ensure our members receive the retirement benefits they earn while in public service.


Duties

Some of what you'll do:

  • Routinely assess technical complex Identity and Access controls to agency systems, networks and information based on principle of least privilege and develop/recommend technical controls to mitigate risks concerning Identity and Access Management;
  • Recommend/implement required technical controls to ensure DRS mitigates the risk concerning the use of privileged access and take the necessary precautions to ensure DRS systems, applications, network and information remain confidential, available and accurate;
  • Document and update disaster recovery plans;
  • Conduct threat prioritization exercises to identify security controls needed to reduce risk;
  • Conduct gap analysis to identify limitations for M365 controls and create remediation plans;
  • Receive and analyze complex network alerts from various sources within the enterprise and determine possible cause;
  • Perform cyber defense incident response activities including communication plans and playbooks;
  • Provide leadership, guidance and security expertise for DRS business units and cybersecurity team members.

NOTE:
During the review period, you will need to be on-site in the office and may gradually move to a hybrid work schedule. Once you effectively demonstrate the ability to perform work independently, you may be eligible for a full-time telework schedule, at the discretion of the Human Resources Director and with a telework agreement in place. The ability to work remotely is dependent on the nature of the tasks and projects assigned and the presence of a remote work environment that is safe and has an appropriate level of reliable connectivity. You must live within a reasonable commuting distance (less than 50 straight-line miles) to the DRS building in Tumwater, WA, and must be willing to adjust your telework schedule to attend mandatory meetings, trainings, etc., at the DRS facility. Qualifications

What we're looking for (required qualifications):

  • Proven experience performing IT security operations responsibilities, utilizing senior-level knowledge of security technologies such as intrusion detection, endpoint defense systems, and security investigations. This education and experience is typically gained from a minimum of seven (7) years of full-time professional work experience (a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or allied field may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience);

  • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following technologies - IDS/IPS, anti-malware, M365 security and compliance, Next-Gen Firewall/UTM solutions, Cloud security tools (on-premise, cloud or hybrid to include Managed Security Service Provider);

  • At least one of the following industry-recognized security certifications: CISSP, CISM, CCSP, GSEC, or other related certifications;

  • Advanced knowledge in current threat tactics, techniques and procedures;

  • Proven ability to work with others who have a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, skills and experience;

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and respond to frequent and rapid changes in workload and priorities; and

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the following competency areas:
