The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for conducting sales activities with both potential and existing customers through face-to-face and phone interactions. This person offers the best possible customer experience, as well as hands-on explanations of any Super-Sod products.


Essential Functions

  1. Develops and implements strategic sales plans to accommodate Company goals.
  2. Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly. Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules and discount rates.
  3. Directs staffing, training and performance evaluations to develop and control sales program.
  4. Directs channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas and goals.
  5. Advises dealers, distributors and clients concerning sales and advertising techniques.
  6. Directs product simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable items from sales line.
  7. Represents company at trade shows to promote new and existing products, requiring the ability to lift and move products weighing up to 50 pounds.
  8. Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with sales representatives.
  9. Meets with key clients, assisting sales representative with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
  10. Coordinates liaison between retail sales department and other sales-related units.
  11. Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.
  12. Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
  13. Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.
  14. Effectively manages sales budget for the region.
  15. Performs any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position required personal time management and scheduling.

Work Environment

This is a remote location position but may require visits to the local or home offices frequently. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This position will occasionally be required to stand or balance when conducting outside sales, as well as walk; use hands and fingers, to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. This employee requires full range of motion of arms and legs and requires movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity and coordination. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and office supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours can change at the discretion of the VP; though typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday work required only as job duties demand.

Travel

This position requires up to 100% travel.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in field experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in outside sales.
  • 2+ years of experience in account management.

1) Must possess valid driver’s license
2) No major safety and moving violations reported on MVR within the past (3) years. Major violations include:

  • Felony convictions
  • Automobile insurance canceled or not renewed by an insurance company due to excessive tickets, accidents, points or fraud.
  • Convicted of alcohol or drug related offense while driving.
  • Convicted of three or more speeding violations or serious moving violations; moving violations include texting or cell phone violations.
  • Been involved in two or more chargeable accidents.
