Position Summary

The radiology technician (“Rad Tech” or “X-ray Tech”) performs diagnostic testing with equipment that utilizes various forms of energy waves, as directed by physician or mid-level provider.



Core Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Performs diagnostic testing with equipment that utilizes various forms of energy waves.
  • Positions patient for basic radiological studies, adjusts immobilization devices and places shielding devices as appropriate.
  • Makes adjustments to radiology equipment for regulation of length and intensity of exposure based on study performed.
  • Operates electrocardiograph (EKG) and other diagnostic equipment to administer routine diagnostic test and treatments, including glucometers, pulse oximeters, nebulizers, oxygen equipment, spirometry, eye exams, etc.
  • Operates Telehealth equipment to include exams such as teleretinal, telederm, etc.
  • May be required to be tele-health back up technician.
  • Makes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment between PM visits.
  • Inventories and orders radiological supplies and materials.
  • Prepares reports and maintains records of services rendered in VISTA/CPRS.
  • Submits any received laboratory and radiology results to medical providers and provides private practice results to VA for scanning or scans results into patient’s medical records after the provider has reviewed.
  • Cleans treatment rooms, equipment and supplies using approved manufacture wipes and/or solutions.
  • Will maintain clinic in a safe and comfortable environment for patients, guests and employees.
  • Completes any and all clinical reminders “due” at the time of each patient visit.
  • Completes consult tracking including patient notification of consult.
  • May assist with front desk for check-in, check-out and phone coverage.
  • Assists in co-managed care collaboration with non-VA providers, and facilities.
  • Maintains confidentiality of veterans’ data and information.
  • Complies with all VA and company training requirements.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree from a diagnostic radiologic technology program
  • 2 years of experience as a diagnostic radiologic technician
  • Must comply with and maintain all requirements for a valid, unrestricted license in the state of desired employment, or in any U.S. state or territory, depending on VA contractual requirements.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (must be renewed periodically as specified by the certifying agency – AHA valid for two years, e.g.) and in ACLS as specified by individual VAMC contract
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong computer skills, including EMR experience
  • Energetic and optimistic demeanor
  • This is considered a safety sensitive position.
  • Annual PPD test.
  • Must be compliant with federal, state, local government or contract specific vaccine mandates and/or requirements.

This job is CONTINGENT upon contract award, client approval, completion of a favorable background investigation, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust / High Risk clearance.
