JOB SUMMARY
Responsible to prepare and present sushi orders in a delightful and standardized manner. Coordinates individual orders and actively communicates with front and back of house personnel to provide a dining experience that exceeds guest expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reports to work on time in the proper uniform.
  • Obeys all company rules and regulations.
  • Prepares menu items for his/her work station and is ready to assist others if needed.
  • Completes daily duties before and after the shift.
  • Meets all guest needs during the course of the meal in order to achieve a positive dining experience for the guest.
  • Ensures standards of appearance and sanitation are maintained on a daily basis. Maintains good safety practices of employees throughout the kitchen.
  • Maintains line of communication between Chef, Kitchen, Bar and Dining Room.
  • Takes fast and appropriate action to solve problems.
  • Handles guest concerns in a professional manner.
  • Frequently interacts with guests in a positive upbeat manner
  • Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
  • Takes order from customer.
  • Completes orders and serves guests at sushi bar.
  • Cleans food preparation equipment and work area, including counter and tables.
  • Respect all sanitation rules and regulations.
  • Is current on all kitchen safety procedures and acts accordingly.
  • Is courteous, friendly and helpful to customers and Team Members.
  • Must wear black non-slip shoes or temporary non-slip shoe covers.
  • Prepares all food accordingly to established procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Creates an atmosphere of FUN for all casino guests.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus two years of job-specific work experience and/or training with demonstrated competence. Experience or specific knowledge of kitchen operations, filleting fish, and/or sushi preparation. Ability to comprehend simple instructions, memos, training materials. Must understand that customer service is a top priority. Must be dependable, motivated, able to follow instructions and complete work in a timely manner

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other Team Members of the organization. Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Blue Lake Casino Hotel.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
Ability to learn and develop all sushi recipes required. Must demonstrate proficiency in handling all kitchen equipment and basic kitchen/sushi techniques. Must demonstrate ability to multi-task, i.e., cook several orders at once while accepting direction for the Chef.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must have impeccable presentation and very good people skills. Familiar with sanitation standards for restaurants.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
While employed, you must maintain a valid and active Blue Lake Tribal Gaming Commission License.
