AZTEC is seeking a BIM Services Leader to support project teams through the application of BIM methodology and Integrated Digital Delivery for both vertical-architectural and horizontal-civil projects.

Job Description:
The BIM Services Leader will leverage strong knowledge of AEC industry standards, tools, and best practices to support and improve workflow collaboration and efficiencies throughout project delivery and will support digitalization strategy company-wide. In charge of all BIM related activities, including development, implementation, and control on BIM Project Execution Plan; management of BIM Models and overseeing their usage by engineers and contractor; research and install the appropriate BIM software and related training; attending and chairing BIM meetings; management of stakeholders' expectations; providing BIM related technical expertise to Design Management Team. Additionally, responsible for providing insightful counsel to the heads of department, ensuring high-standard projects and tenders, and driving business growth through the promotion of the Aztec's BIM methodology and digitalization in all type of projects.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Development of BIM & Digital Strategies Company-wide:
    1. Work with Practice representatives to identify the path forward for creating and implementing BIM and digital strategies for the company.
    2. Coordinate with Project Managers to define a Digital Delivery Strategy, BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and workflows for utilizing or creating 3D digital-twin information for design, estimating, planning, scheduling, coordination and/or facilitates management in compliance with international standards such as ISO-19650.
    3. Advise the other departments and divisions and act as a support resource for core design technologies, digital tools and digital delivery.
    4. Collaborate with other TYPSA Group BIM staff both in North America and Internationally.
    5. Setup and management of Common Data Environment (CDE) in collaboration with the IT Department.
    6. Support the development and implementation of interoperability workflows between various design applications/platforms.
    7. Provide training across various departments to enhance the efficiency and proficiency of project teams in utilizing BIM technologies.
    8. Support business growth in Canada and the USA by promoting AZTEC's Digital Delivery methodology in all type of projects.
    9. Develop immersive experiences using Virtual Reality and Digital Twins to simulate the future of projects before construction, allowing for better visualization and decision-making.
    10. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and innovative software solutions that can enhance the efficiency and productivity of AZTEC's teams.
    11. Provide technical expertise in Digital Delivery to the company and different departments and the design teams, offering valuable insights and solutions to complex challenges.
  • Oversight of BIM Activities in projects:
    1. Supervise all BIM-related activities, including the development, implementation, and control of the BIM Project Execution Plan and guidelines in projects.
    2. Advise the Project Manager to prepare and project Quality Plans in BIM related aspects.
    3. Prepare and Present the BIM Criteria to be incorporated in the Quality Plans to the Project Manager for comments and acceptance prior to publishing, and to the Client when stipulated in the contract.
    4. Support the Project Manager in distributing the Quality Plan and making it accessible to the project production team.
    5. Perform the coordination and audit of Information Models and Delivery Plans to ensure BIM deliverables are in line with AZTEC’s BIM requirements, ‘Client Information Requirements’ and project’s BIM Goals.
    6. Assist the production teams working with BIM methodology and provide support in the specific criteria, guidelines and standards of work defined in the contract that are applicable to the contract.
    7. Coordinate the BIM project with the BIM Managers from the other external organizations involved in the project.
    8. Ensure that BIM models are effectively managed and utilized by team members and contractors.
    9. Implement quality control and clash detection procedures to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency in project coordination.
    10. Ensure effective coordination between all departments involved in the projects, fostering a collaborative and seamless workflow.

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, information technology or a related discipline required.
  • Master's degree in BIM Management, Construction & Facility Management or similar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant BIM experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience in BIM Management for multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects (both vertical and horizontal) developed with BIM Methodology.
  • Track record of successfully leading and coordinating BIM-related activities in large-scale projects.
  • Experience in management and set up of Common Data Environments including but not limited to: Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM360 Design and Collaborate Suite and ProjectWise.
  • Expertise in the development of BIM Implementation and Execution Plans.
  • Strong strategic planning and large-scale contract review from a BIM perspective.
  • Ability to provide technical expertise and training to the company employees.
  • Strong research skills to explore and implement emerging technologies applicable to projects.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with a variety of BIM authoring and coordination software including but not limited to: Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Assemble, and PlanGrid.
  • Experience with a variety of visualization software including but not limited to: Lumion, Unity, Unreal, Twinmotion and Enscape.
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish in order to communicate effectively with North American teams and our BIM Services group in Spain.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in Autodesk Revit API & Dynamo, as well as Grasshopper for Rhino.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Experience with Bentley Open Buildings/Roads/Rail is a plus.

This position will require general supervision and will have to use independent judgment within established guidelines. Generally, uses advanced knowledge to analyze, interpret, or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances.

Will need the ability to establish rapport quickly with others working on the same project and be able to promote a positive team environment. Working knowledge of dealing with a diverse population while using tact, diplomacy, and respect.
