Job Description

General Summary:

Reporting to the GM, Americas, the Director, Operations is a member of the EnviroLogix Senior Leadership Team and responsible for the direction and coordination of all Operations departments in the production facility in Portland, Maine and the Laboratory Services operation in St. Charles, Missouri. In partnership with subordinate leaders, the Director, Operations achieves results and drives continuous, sustained improvement in areas of supply chain, automated and manual manufacturing processes involving technical scientific procedures, value streams, engineering, training & documentation, quality technology and creating work processes and environments that facilitate an engaged Operations team.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency throughout the company's operations.
  • Participates in formulating and developing long term business strategy, long range goals and objectives for the organization.
  • Develops and implements continuous improvement approach to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory key performance indicators
  • Reviews and analyzes activities such as safety, customer service, quality, costs, manufacturing effectiveness and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated organization strategy, goals and objectives.
  • Participates as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team and communicates well with teammates and others.
  • Establishes manufacturing practices and policies in the areas of materials usage, shipping and receiving, capacity planning, production scheduling, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations and performance measures.
  • Directs implementation and execution of manufacturing practices and policies and practices throughout the organization.
  • Builds, develops and manages operations leadership team capable of carrying out needed operations strategies and improving employee relations.
  • Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.

Skills Required:

  • Past leadership experience and strong leadership ability
  • Excellent logistical and planning skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required, degree in life science field strongly preferred.

Requirements:

  • Experience within, and understanding of manufacturing operations
  • Experience within and understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, ultimately delivering satisfactory, on time results.
  • Ability to interface effectively with multiple internal departments/teams to execute on business goals.
  • Ability to problem solve and construct analytical approaches to determine root causes and development of countermeasures.
  • Orientation for systemization and process development
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to drive team capabilities, create and foster high level of employee engagement within Operation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment and office environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to utilize a computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly
