Hiring Range(hourly): $22.39/min - $24.63/mid - $26.86/max

Position Summary:
Trails Maintenance Technician
The City of Aspen Parks Department is offering a rewarding outdoor job opportunity to be a part of the City's trails maintenance team. This position requires an individual that cares for quality trails, is detail oriented and happy to be out working with the public. The focus of this position is upkeep of the City of Aspen trial system, from paved multi-use paths to mountain singletrack. Daily tasks include debris removal, repairing trail surfaces, trash removal, and inspecting trail assets for damage. Position uses cars/trucks and work carts for tasks and transport throughout the trail system. Work in a highly successful and innovative Parks Department that values proper safety guidelines and an enjoyable workday. Full-time four day, or part-time and possible flexible schedule opportunities are available. Carpool or bus pass opportunities are established for commuting. For those that complete the season commitment there is an end of season bonus.

Supervision Exercised and Received: Position works under the direct supervision of the Trail Crew Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions:

Trails Maintenance Technician:
* Maintain Trail System assets (Paved and soft-surface trails, bridges, trash cans, benches)
* Optimize varied trail conditions with user experience in mind
* Identify, assess, and remedy hazards in the field
* Ability to work independently and to make critical decisions
* Daily operation of trimmers, cars/trucks, electric and gas work carts
* Frequent and professional interaction with the general public
* Must follow proper safety guidelines and responsibility for use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Essential Physical Requirements:
* Visual Acuity: Ability to bring objects into focus.
* Balancing: Maintaining equilibrium.
* Bending: Bending or position oneself to move an object from one level to another.
* Carrying: Occasionally up to 50 lbs.
* Crouching: Bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
* Climbing: Ascending or descending stationary objects.
* Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination: Performing work through using two or more body parts or other devices.
* Gripping/Grasping: Ability to apply pressure with fingers and palm.
* Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, through use of hands, fingers, or other means.
* Hearing: Perceiving and comprehending the nature and direction of sounds.
* Kneeling: Bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee or knees
* Lifting: Occasionally up to 50 lbs. such as open space signs, posts, interpretive displays, bags of native seed and fertilizer, plant materials, etc.
* Pushing/Pulling: Ability to use upper extremities to exert force in order to press, draw, drag or haul objects in a sustained motion.
* Reaching: Extending the hands and arms or other device in any direction.
* Repetitive motions: Making frequent or continuous movements.
* Sitting: Remaining in a stationary position.
* Standing: Ability to sustain position for a period of time.
* Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
* Talking: Communicating ideas or exchanging information.
* Walking: Ability to move to traverse from one location to another.
