Special Education Student Teaching/Educational Behavioral Specialist Intern

SHS teachers and staff utilize a variety of behavior management strategies, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) based techniques, with ongoing support from credentialed and licensed professionals. Students benefit from a high staff-to-student ratio and data-based decision making in the classrooms.

Any students age 14 and older receive transition services that are created to address the student’s individual needs, strengths and skills necessary for post-school activities, employment, independent living or post-secondary education.

Soaring Heights Schools offer related services including speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy and all other mandated services and supports that are required by the student’s IEP.

Join our collaborative team at Soaring Heights School as a Student Teacher or Education Behavioral Specialist. You will have the opportunity to work in a licensed, private school setting offering educational and behavioral programing for students.

Internship Details:

• Work closely with a specific student population and team
• Actively integrate into the multi-disciplinary treatment team
• Student Teaching experience is tailored to encompass all requirements of their college, such as lesson plan creation or behavioral modification planning
• Learn leadership and classroom management skills
• Identify and support children who struggle with emotional and behavioral issues
• Weekly supervision occurs with their identified school preceptor.
