Senior AWS Cloud Architect

Location: Washington, DC (Remote)

xScion is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Architect to support the modernization of a set of large enterprise applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing technology patterns, guides, and decision frameworks to support the migration of the applications into the cloud. They will define a high-level current state of technology and recommend future technologies for key architectural components. Additionally, the Cloud Architect will create an enterprise modernization roadmap and an adoption framework to ensure the successful rollout of new cloud-based technology. 

As a Senior Cloud Architect, You Will 

• Develop and implement modernization patterns and guides to support the planning and development of new cloud-based technology 
• Support the development of technology decision frameworks to assist business groups in selecting the most appropriate technology for their applications based on the framework’s decision criteria. 
• Define a high-level current state of technology currency for key architectural components and recommend future technologies for each key component in the future state technical currency. 
• Identify opportunities to transition from custom solutions to commodity alternatives (e.g., no/low code). 
• Create an enterprise modernization roadmap with an initial recommendation for modernization sequencing based on best practices, existing applications, and future business architecture. 
• Develop an Adoption Framework that outlines a rollout approach that aligns with any identified business transformation strategies and provides a clear roadmap for implementation and ROI measurement based on identified milestones. 

To Be Successful, You Need:  

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 
• 8+ years of proven experience as a Cloud Architect or similar role in a large-scale enterprise environment. 
• Strong understanding of AWS cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends. 
• Experience with AWS GovCloud
• Experience with modernization patterns, technology decision frameworks, and technical currency consolidation. 
• Knowledge of enterprise modernization roadmaps and adoption frameworks. 
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills. 
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and business lines. 
• Strong knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. 
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex systems to identify and resolve security issues. 
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Architect, AWS Security, Azure certifications  
• US Citizenship required
