Position:
The position is for a full-time ambassador. The ambassador will serve meals to patients in a professional, efficient manner; instructs patients on meal ordering system; assists patients in placing meal orders; assesses the patient’s capabilities to utilize the meal order system and maintains record records of patient food intake. The position is primary to second shift working 10:45am – 7:15pm.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a large industrial kitchen preferred.
- 6 months in hotel room service or hospital food or customer service experience
- Able to read and write English and be able to follow oral and written instructions.
- Crucial to be able to have positive interaction with different levels of patients, patient’s families, and other staff within the hospital setting.
- ServSafe certification is required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Word.
- Working with Tablet Computers and using cell phones are required.
- Ability to work with other professions on physician’s food orders.
Responsibilities:
- Perform any tasks involved in dishwashing and cleaning operations of food service.
- Work on central tray line, assisting with patient tray set up and preparation.
- Set up utensils and food supplies for cooks as directed.
- Prepare and set up steam table and serving line for either cafeteria or patient tray service.
- Assist as needed to expedite the flow of work in the kitchen and food service.
- Employee is competent and knowledgeable to fulfill nutritional requirements for normal, modified, therapeutic diets, and other special diets.
- Instructs patients on meal ordering system following an established script
- Assesses patient’s ability to utilize the meal order system and follow up with appropriate staff member if unable to participate
- Processes diet requisitions retrieved from nursing stations
- Delivers between meal nourishments directly to patients
- Mediates patient concerns regarding meal service with Nursing (and other professional staff) and Patient Food Service
- Orders and replenishes bulk supplies on nursing units
- Retrieves completed meals from patient’s rooms in a timely manner
- Records nutrient intake from meals
- Acts as liaison between Food & Nutrition Department, the patient and nursing unit
- Portions food items in proper containers utilizing proper portion sizes
- Takes ownership of a problem and ensures a positive outcome, follows up each problem until it comes to a resolution
- Serves as a quality assurance control point for every aspect of the room service program
- Presents a professional appearance in the uniform prescribed by the department at all times.
