Job Description

Job Description

Since 2018, Pet Fit has been caring for well-loved dogs in and near Ellicott City. We are seeking exceptional dog walkers to add to our Pack!

  • A professional dog walker who can emphasize safety, force-free care, and canine enrichment.
  • We prefer a candidate with consistent Monday - Friday availability.
  • We prefer a candidate with consistent availableyt between 10am - 3pm. (Operating hours are 8am to 5pm; additional consideration is given to candidates with greater availability).

Compensation:

$15 - $16 / hour

$250 - $350 / week

  • A six-month performance review increases employee hourly wage from $15 to $16 per hour.
  • The position will start at 10-12 hours weekly but can quickly grow to 20-25 hours weekly.
  • Performance and Referral bonuses are available.
  • Client gratuity.
  • Paid training, including Pet CPR certification.
  • All supplies provided. Pet Fit will provide poop bags, treats, leashes, hand sanitizer, and all other required supplies.

 The responsibilities:

  • We prefer a candidate who can work MON-FRI, ideally, someone available 10am to 3pm.
  • Create a safe and positive walking environment for our client's dogs
  • Follow the client-provided care instructions, including training preferences
  • Give our clients first-class customer service with a personal touch
  • Communicate with staff via phone/text and photographs
  • Contribute to the team effort by working as a team player
  • Practice time management to ensure on-time arrivals for all assigned visits
  • Staff will also have optional additional earning opportunities. We attend dog parties, pack walks, boot camps, and pop-ups.

The ideal candidate:

  • An honest, patient, and enthusiastic candidate who can provide our client's dogs and cats with the highest quality visits possible.
  • The candidate should have a strong understanding of safety and time management. Previous professional or volunteer experience with animals is preferred, but a positive attitude and a desire to learn are just as important.
  • The candidate should enjoy an active work environment, walking independently and working outdoors regardless of weather conditions—consideration for candidates with evening, weekend, and holiday availability.
  • This is an excellent opportunity for people looking to start a career or grow their professional experience with dogs. Many of our staff were previously dog walkers with on-demand services, doggy daycare staff, dog groomers, or volunteers at a local shelter.
  • The candidate should have an innate desire to care for animals while ensuring their safety.
  • An excellent fit for stay-at-home parents, independent contractors, and retirees. We offer flexible scheduling, and most work occurs during school day hours.

Our Google pages will show you what our clients say about our work!

“Pet Fit is the best dog walking service I have used. Reilly took great care of my two beagles for over a year. Scheduling walks and payment was always easy via the Pet Fit portal. Reilly is always responsive and accommodating. He really got to know the dogs and gave detailed daily updates with great pictures. He was also always quick to point out and relay any changes in their behavior and often noticed if the dogs were not feeling well or were sick before we did. ”
