Associate Engineer for PES - Motor Solutions Business Unit. Successful candidate will have responsibility for mechanical models on both current platforms and new product development projects. Candidate requires a solid understanding of problem solving process and ability to apply to routine design problems. Assists in taking the voice of customer and development of product specifications, translating customer needs into SolidWorks models taking into account Design For Assembly. Participates in Gas lab testing, Reliability and Wind tunnel testing and will include work with failure analysis and reporting. Must be capable of communicating effectively with all functions: Commercial, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Quality.
Major Responsibilities:
Utilizing technical skills, create SW models in 3D for use in concept models and new product development.
Maintain and operate the SLS printer to provide the Motor Solutions and RRX teams with high quality prototype plastic components
Build new concept models and test in the Engineering labs
Machine parts and assemble systems for new products using lathes, mills and welders
Utilize Design For Manufacturability / Assembly techniques to reduce product cost and improve quality.
Assist Engineering Teams in creation of innovative components and assemblies.
Act as main point of contact for internal and external customers for technical inquiries.
Required Education / Experience / Skills:
Associate Degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience
Demonstrated organization skills; preferably with working knowledge of the Regal CAD and SLS systems
Good oral and written communication skills
Strong relationship and team-building skills
Individual must be proactive, high energy and have strong problem solving skills
3D Modeling, GDT and machine tool experience preferred
Proven track record of developing innovative products and solutions preferred``
Travel: Rare but possible
Language: Fluency in English is required. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
