Senior Learning Generalist – Banking

Our client in Holyoke, Mass one of the most admired banks in Western Massachusetts, is seeking a Senior Learning Generalist to join their Learning and Development team.

Reporting to the AVP of Learning and Development, this role works with all areas of the business to advance learning and development needs across the organization. This role collaborates with each business unit to determine training and development needs to deliver skill-based training programs that prepare the organization with the necessary skills and capabilities to serve the needs of the bank.

NOTE: This role will require off-hours work including before opening and after closing time frames to accommodate for banking center schedules.  This role may be performed in a hybrid model.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Work in collaboration with each business unit to identify job skills and development needs and determine the required training and job aids to enable the business to meet their operational and strategic goals.
  • Perform needs analysis to determine learning opportunities utilizing the ADDIE model or similar methodology.
  • Develop, build, and execute comprehensive blended learning plans to accelerate organizational learning and accommodate different methods of learning.
  • Collaborate closely with Subject Matter Experts to translate their expertise into learning assets.
  • Utilize the Adult Learning Theory and Principles to deliver effective training sessions and act as a resource for Training Design and Delivery methods.
  • Design and oversee On-The-Job Training Programs to ensure effective means of cross training throughout the organization. Provide resources to OJT Trainers and maintain ongoing support to the business area resources.
  • Review programs on an ongoing basis/ update and changes as appropriate.
  • Assist AVP of Learning in the technology-based learning strategy around Cornerstone, leveraging content and ensuring a seamless and highly usable associate experience to include:  custom pages, icons, and focused learning pathways.
  • Measure programs effectiveness through established metrics to ensure program effectiveness including periodic review of established programs. Knowledge of the Kirkpatrick Model or similar methodology preferred.
  • Work in collaboration with managers and subject matter experts to maintain relevant content based on new and evolving job requirements.
  • Strong facilitation skills, including virtually and in person.
  • Delivery of next level skill-based programs including manager development and selling and service skill topics as well as technology-based content.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree; or demonstrated experience and knowledge working as a training or instructional design professional.
  • Solid understanding of Adult Learning Theory and Principles.
  •  Experience training and creating job-aids and facilitating associate development.

Skills:
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and explain complex documents/concepts.
  • Proven ability to create blended learning content utilizing a mix method of delivery for optimal learning retention.
  • Ability to write/develop course content using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Demonstrated skill in making effective and persuasive presentations to all audiences.  

Computer Skills: 
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with learning management software and technologies. Proficiency with Cornerstone, Lemonade authoring tools, Canva, and Microsoft Teams highly desired.
