  • Fulltime role throughout the summer. Valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle required for the role.
  • Payrate $20 - $22 per hour

 

SUMMARY

Responsible for the development and implementation of an effective and rewarding volunteer program including the identification of volunteer opportunities, volunteer recruitment, training, supervision, daily debriefings and community outreach and education. Also responsible for the acquisition of in-kind donations, support of special events and completion of monthly reports.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

  1. Responsible for the recruitment, scheduling, retention and management of volunteers for Camp St. Vincent.
  2. Creates volunteer positions, develops position descriptions and coordinates supervision of volunteers.
  3. Implements volunteer policies and procedures.
  4. Ensures that volunteers submit all required application and screening materials. Follows identified procedures for receiving approval for volunteers before volunteers begin service. Ensures that all volunteers receive adequate orientation and training.
  5. Trains staff on the effective use and supervision of volunteers. Ensures that volunteers are being used effectively at Camp. Maintains communication with staff about volunteer schedules, volunteer and donation needs, and volunteer conduct. Supports a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers at Camp. Manages any issues regarding volunteers including volunteer behavior, conflicts between volunteers and staff, and attendance.
  6. Creates all materials for outreach, volunteer recruitment, donation solicitation and volunteer training in consultation with the Camp Director and Director of Communications.
  7. Maintains database of volunteers, tracks donated hours of service and in-kind donations, and reports statistics monthly as needed and appropriate. Provides acknowledgement of donations to in-kind donors and sends thank you letters to volunteers and donors as needed.
  8. Develops reflection materials for volunteers and leads volunteer debriefing sessions at the end of each Camp day.
  9. Coordinates all aspects of volunteer recognition activities and provides volunteers with verification of service hours as needed.

 

SECONDARY DUTIES

  1. Responds to all requests for information from groups and individuals interested in volunteering or making donations. Identifies volunteer and donor interests and matches individuals and groups with program needs.
  2. Collaborates with the program director to submit story ideas for various publications and marketing needs.
  3. Submits weekly social media posts to the Director of Communications. Keeps SVDP volunteer and in-kind donation information up to date on the SVDP website by submitting changes to the Director of Communications.
  4. Coordinates delivery, pick-up sorting and distribution of donations as necessary.

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  1. Assists with and attends special events held by Camp St. Vincent and St. Vincent de Paul as necessary.
  2. Upholds the vision, mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
  3. Attends all staff meetings and other meetings as required/directed.
  4. Creates a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers and works with them in an effective manner.
  5. Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelors’ degree in human services or related field (experience may be considered in place of a degree).
  2. Experience working with school-age and high school age youth, preferably in a nonprofit or community-based organization.
  3. Experience in resource development, and the coordination and training of volunteers, preferably in a nonprofit or community-based organization.
  4. Excellent computer skills including knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs and experience using web-based data management systems.
  5. An understanding and respect for the confidentiality of clients.
  6. Excellent organization skills.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to facilitate reflective and educational discussion with individuals and groups.
  8. Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  9. Access to an automobile, valid Drivers license and willingness to travel to churches, schools, community groups and other destinations in the region.
  10. Appreciation of a fast-paced, outdoor work environment.
  11. Ability to commit to eight weeks of uninterrupted work during the summer as well as pre-camp and post-camp planning meetings.
  12. Demonstrates emotional maturity, integrity, adaptability and high moral character.
  13. Demonstrates exceptional leadership, administrative, and organizational skills.
  14. Successful completion of background screening.

_____LIGHT WORK: Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. It involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing/pulling of arm/or leg controls.

__X___MEDIUM WORK: Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 25 pounds.

_____HEAVY WORK: Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects no more than 50 pounds.
