Veterinary Technician/Assistant

Tennessee Valley Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced veterinary technician/veterinary assistant to join our team!

Our veterinary technicians play an essential role in our success by supporting doctors in the hospital, caring for patients, and interacting closely with clients in regards to patient care. Our ideal candidate must have previous experience as a veterinary technician/assistant.

Full-time position available.

Responsibilities:

• Broad knowledge of basic small animal medicine (pharmacology, proper restraint/handling, venipuncture, laboratory testing) Opportunities for growth and learning with large animal service.
• Triage – identify emergencies and illnesses
• Perform various treatments on an in-house and outpatient basis including but not limited to placing feeding tubes, intravenous catheter placement and more
• Knowledge of medical terminology, medication and disease processes
• Administer oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous medications
• Position and capture digital radiographs
• Computer skills
• Effective verbal and written communication with both clients and team members
• Anesthesia: induction, monitoring, troubleshooting and recovery
• Attention to detail and calm demeanor
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Low stress handling of patients
• Advocate for patients

Qualifications:

• Previous veterinary practice experience required
• CVT or equivalent preferred
• Ability to stay calm and efficient during times of high tension
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task
