About Us:

Grocery Services, Inc. is a retail chain which is contracted by the Texas State Health Department specialized in Women, Infant and Children (WIC) food supplemental program. The company operates in the Greater Houston Area under Grocery Services, Inc., the Brownsville area and El Paso under Grocery Services South, LLC. We are seeking a talented and motivated Accountant to join our team and contribute to our financial success.

Job Description:

As an Accountant at Grocery Services, Inc, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and providing valuable insights to support decision-making. You will work closely with our finance team to manage day-to-day accounting operations, and you will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities:

• Record and maintain financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries.
• Interact with all levels of management, stores, vendors and the State agency.
• Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow.
• Prepare and review financial statements and compiling adhoc financial reports.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Analyze financial data and provide recommendations for cost reductions and revenue enhancements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles and relevant regulations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support financial planning and analysis.
• Assist with the annual audit process.
• Stay up-to-date with accounting trends and best practices.
• Internal company credit card reconciliations.
• Other duties as assigned and over-time might be required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2 + years of accounting experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks.
• Proficiency in Word, Outlook and PowerPoint; strong MS Excel Spreadsheet required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of relevant accounting regulations and standards.
• Ability to work independently and with a sense of urgency, ability to be flexible and work well in a team environment.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred.
