Job Summary:

The Nurse Manager in a DDA setting is responsible for overseeing and managing the healthcare services provided to individuals with developmental disabilities. This includes ensuring that all individuals receive appropriate medical care, coordinating with medical professionals, and managing Nursing and Medical Scheduling department staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the health services department, including the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to healthcare services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ensure that all individuals receive appropriate medical care, including routine medical appointments, screenings, and medication management.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure that individuals receive comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Manage and supervise health services staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
  • Assure that nursing case delegation and management provided by nursing is within standards of COMAR 10.27.11, 10.22, and is evidence based best practice.
  • Participate in strategic planning for the Nursing Department and Leadership Team as needed.
  • Maintains status as a DDA RN CM/DN.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and practices in nursing and health care through resources such as literature review and professional networking.
  • Be available to CSAAC Managers/Directors to answer questions concerning medical and/or medication issues.
  • Conduct staff meetings and education as appropriate/indicated.
  • Be familiar with and comply with the standards of Nursing Practice set forth in the Maryland State Board of Nursing Practice Act, 10.27.11.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all individuals and promote individual rights at all times. Compliance with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and other federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Coordinate with other departments within the DDA setting to ensure that healthcare services are integrated into overall care plans for individuals.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, including data analysis, performance monitoring, and benchmarking.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Current license as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland
  • Minimum of five years of experience in healthcare management, with experience in a DDA or related setting preferred.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team of healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with medical professionals, staff, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and standards related to healthcare services.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to providing high-quality, person-centered care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
