Invictus Academy is a high performing independent public charter school located in El Cerrito, and we are seeking teachers who want to join our team and create an exceptional school.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The quality of our school cannot exceed the quality of our teachers. In that spirit, we are seeking exceptional individuals to execute the following “essential job duties” and responsibilities:


With students, you:

  • Deliver excellent student supervision consistent with the age and abilities of students
  • Set and hold high expectations for academics and behavior
  • Develop trusting, authentic relationships with students and their families 
  • Create and maintain a joyful, safe, structured, and engaging school and classroom culture
  • Demonstrate passion for  the content area you teach
  • Encourage students to take risks and learn from their mistakes
  • Create opportunities for students to leverage the power of their voice 

Whole School Responsibilities:

  • Model and teach our core values: purpose, perseverance, productivity, growth mindset, integrity, leadership, joy, gratitude, mindfulness, and kindness
  • Actively engage in professional development, including sharing strengths of your practice with colleagues
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers, special education staff, and school leadership to ensure we continuously improve as a school and meet students’ needs
  • Give and receive feedback to improve your practice, that of your peers, and school leaders, and create and maintain open, honest and respectful lines of communication

Instructional Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute engaging, rigorous, and relevant daily lessons aligned to state standards 
  • Communicate regularly with parents, striving for a ratio of three positive communications for each corrective one
  • Utilize a variety of rigorous, authentic assessments to collect and respond to student achievement data
  • Scaffold and differentiate your lessons to support students towards independent mastery of content 
  • Maximize the number of students actively participating in class and the depth of thinking they do, while maintaining a high bar for rigor 
  • Support advisory, tutorial, and elective activities 
  • Supervise and engage with students in person to ensure student safety and learning
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal or an administrator

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Earned Bachelor’s Degree.
  • California Multiple Subjects Credential in the designated subject area; are currently working towards one; or, are committed to working towards a credential.
    • Candidates with an intern credential (or who are open to pursuing one) will also be considered.
  • Possession of either an English Learner (EL) Authorization, Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) certificate, Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development (CLAD), or Bilingual Certificate of Competence (BCC) required, or are working towards this.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Our ideal candidate has at least three years of teaching experience.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is on-site. The employee must have sufficient mobility to report to campus, work in a classroom, and engage with students, with or without reasonable accommodations. The employee may be required to do light lifting, pushing/pulling, and bending, with or without accommodations. The employee must possess the ability to communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, with or without reasonable accommodations.
