Great Lakes Bay Health Centers (GLBHC) is a community health center umbrella made up of32 locationsthroughout the Great Lakes Bay region and beyond. The Chief Dental Officer Position

The Chief Dental Officer (CDO) at Great Lakes Bay Health Centers is responsible for ensuring the quality and efficiency of all dental services, including the community based oral health program and collaboration with the University of Michigan Dental School. The CDO oversees clinical duties, quality assurance, peer review, and staff activities affecting care quality at all GLBHC dental sites. In addition to performing as a Staff Dentist, the CDO directly supervises the Dental Services Coordinator, Staff Dentists, and Dental Hygienists, handing recruitment and ensuring timely employee performance evaluations. The role also involves managing provider scheduling, developing policies, procedures, and care standards. Essential job duties include clinical services, maintaining care delivery standards, overseeing staffing, conducting chart audits, chairing meetings, contributing to the Executive Team, and maintain alliances with education institutions, all while staying informed about funding opportunities and relevant legislation.


Preferred Experience, Skills & Abilities of the Chief Dental Officer

  • DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
  • Certification and appropriate licensure as requited by the state of Michigan Board of Dentistry, Board of Pharmacy, and the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration
  • Minimum 5 years of performance as a Dentist in group setting. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance and utilization review requirements
  • Proven leadership skill of dental staff for day-to-day functions, as well as the ability to interpret financial reports and government legislation.


Compensation, Benefits & Structure of the Chief Dental Officer

This position is full time and permanent and includes a competitive compensation structure, based on skills and experience, and a comprehensive benefit and retirement package. The position is based in our Saginaw, MI office with occasional off-site travel to various GLBHC offices as required.
