MBC Tysons - Rock Student Minstries Intern

The internship program is designed for high school graduates and college students who are walking closely with Jesus and would like to spend the summer working in student ministry and disciplining the next generation. We are looking for interns with the desire to come alongside teenagers in the DMV area and point them to deep and abiding faith in Jesus amid a culture of opposition, distraction, and disbelief.

WHAT WILL THE INTERNSHIP INVOLVE?

Ministry involves many types of work, from administrative tasks to leading small groups to planning outreach and discipleship events. As a Rock intern, you’ll serve meaningfully in both operations and disciple-making roles during our weekly programing and at our special events. You will also assist with the planning and execution of our two Rock Summer Camps. Additionally, you will receive intentional training and discipleship from the NextGen team to develop you as a faithful servant of Jesus.

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS OF AN MBC INTERN?

Internship dates are June 9 – August 14, 2024. Rock Interns can expect to work 30 hours/week on non-camp weeks with set office hours across Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and special events on Fridays and Saturdays. Due to the nature of student ministry, evening and weekend availability is a must.

A mandatory orientation for all MBC Interns will take place on Sunday, June 9 from 1-3pm.

MBC Interns will be permitted up to 5 vacation days throughout the summer with written approval. Vacation day requests must be submitted by June 1, and approval/denial will be given by the internship start date. Any unanticipated time off requests, delayed start dates, or early end dates will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Vacation days cannot be used during mandatory summer camp dates.

For NextGen ministries, summer camps are a critical part of our mission to make disciples of the next generation. Both Rock Summer Camps are mandatory for all Rock Interns:

• High School Summer Camp - July 13-17
• Middle School Summer Camp - August 1-4

Participation in one additional NextGen camp over the summer is also required:

• Access VBS (ages 5-15) – July 8-12
• Kid’s Quest Summer Camp – August 5-9
• Access VBS (ages 16+) – July 22-26

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I’M ACCEPTED?

We have rolling acceptance, so the sooner your application comes in, the sooner you’ll know if you’ve been accepted. The internship application will close May 15, and we will conduct interviews as applications come in. We will make our final decisions and notify applicants as we conduct interviews and no later than May 31.

IS THERE ANY COMPENSATION?

MBC Interns will receive a stipend of $2,000 for the summer.
