Shulman Rogers is a well established full-service, 100+ attorney law firm with offices in Tysons Corner and Alexandria, Virginia with its main office in Potomac, Maryland. The firm supports national, regional and local clients and works collaboratively, across practice groups, to respond to all of their legal needs.

Shulman Rogers' Family Law and Fiduciary Litigation Group is seeking an experienced attorney to join their growing Virginia practice. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of family law or litigation experience and will assume immediate responsibility and play a key role in highly diverse family law and fiduciary matters working with multiple partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on various family law issues.
  • Assist senior attorneys in drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Interview clients to gather relevant information and assist in case strategy development.
  • Attend court hearings, mediation sessions, and other legal proceedings as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in the case.
  • Participate in all aspects of case development from its inception to conclusion.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop negotiation and litigation strategies.
  • Stay updated on changes in family law statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Provide support in client consultations and meetings, offering legal advice and guidance as appropriate.
  • Uphold the firm's commitment to professionalism, ethics, and client confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the VA state bar (DC and MD a plus) and in good standing.
  • Minimum of three years of experience practicing family law, including hands-on experience with divorce, child custody, support, and other family law matters.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with clients experiencing family law challenges.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software.

A strong candidate for this position will have judicial clerkship experience.
