Job Description

Toledo Clinic's Gynecology Department is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA/ABR-OE) to provide front office MA support in a busy office. This position offers employee benefits along with no weekends or holidays. The hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.


Toledo Clinic is offering a $2,000 Sign-On Bonus to qualified Medical Assistants and Certified Patient Care Techs. Sign-On Bonuses are payable within 30 days of hire to employees that have active and verified credentials (ex: RMA/CMA/CCMA/CPCT/A). For candidates that have not yet obtained or need to renew their credential, the Sign-On Bonus is payable once the credential is obtained and verified. After one year of service, qualified Medical Assistants/Certified Patient Care Techs will be eligible for an additional $2,000 Retention Bonus.


General Summary:

Perform various clerical duties to support the operation of the office and as needed performs clinical duties

Works under the supervision of the Office Manager.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Example of Essential Duties:

  1. Answering phones - courteously and professionally.
  2. Scheduling appointments, lab tests, surgeries, etc.
  3. Enters lab, radiology orders and prescriptions into the EMR system.
  4. Accurately enter patient information in to the electronic medical record.
  5. Verifying referrals and/or pre-certifications.
  6. Updating insurance information.
  7. Escorting patients to exam rooms.
  8. Preparing and maintaining exam rooms.

Other Essential Duties May Include (but are not limited to):

  1. Assisting physician with minor procedures.
  2. Preparing patients for physicians (vitals, histories, etc.).
  3. Answering patient questions at the request of the physician.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Required:

- Excellent communication and organizational skills required.

- Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.

- Registration or Certification as a Medical Assistant

- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.

- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.

- Medical Assisting Credential (ie: RMA or CMA)

Education:

- Medical Assisting degree or diploma required.

Preferred:

- Previous clerical experience in a medical office.
