JOB SUMMARY

The Radiology Technician maintains and uses equipment and supplies necessary to demonstrate portions of the human body with high-quality radiographic images for diagnostic purposes.


This is a full-time, year round position offering medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as 401K, PTO, and continuing education funds.



THE DETAILS OF THE JOB

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interviews patients to explain specific radiologic procedures and ensure patient safety.
  • Position patient on examining table and set up and adjust equipment to obtain optimum view of specific body area as requested by radiologist. Use patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff.
  • Monitor patient safety and comfort.
  • View images of area being scanned to endure quality of images, rejecting and repeating work that does not meet established standards.
  • Collect and maintain records of patients examined, examinations performed, patient medical histories, views taken, or technical factors used.
  • Scan X-RAY reports and tasks sign off requests to the physician; assist physician in obtaining exams to view in patient rooms.
  • Perform insurance pre-certification for scans.
  • Coordinate imaging activities such as compact disc (CD) and OR/operative films.
  • Manage outside studies and operate digital picture archiving communications systems.
  • Meet the Company’s expectations as described in the VSON Policies and Practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Personal Identifiable Information (PII) in accordance with company Policies and State and Federal laws, including OHSA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform job in accordance with all company safety practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

WHAT IT TAKES TO DO THE JOB

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures, and of common medical safety hazards and precautions for X-Ray rooms.
  • Ability to perform written and verbal communication in English.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATES

  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) license as an RT required.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND DECISION-MAKING

  • Decisions and actions made on the job affect safety and the levels of service provided. Has an impact on patient experience by serving as a representative of the company.
  • This position is on a team or acts as an individual contributor and does not supervise employees.
  • One year work experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

This job operates in a medical office environment where frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment may exist.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can occasionally be loud due to volume of physicians and patients in the office.

Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and may be interruptive. Contact involves dealing with injured people who may be angry or upset with their situation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position is very physical and requires standing for long periods of time, stooping, bending, stretching, regular lifting of 10-15 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs., and occasional supporting/assist lifting of patients weighing up to 300 lbs.

Position requires frequent grasping, pinching, use of extremities and fingers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. It is necessary to view a computer monitor for medium periods of time.

Duties require manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, corrected vision, and hearing to normal range.
