Christman Mid-Atlantic Constructors are looking to hire Foremen with General Trades experience (with an emphasis in commercial concrete and carpentry) to join our Trades division in the DC Metro and Sterling, VA region. Position Summary

As a General Trades foreman, you will oversee, run, and direct the general and daily responsibilities for the trades team. Other responsibilities include coordinating work according to priorities and plans ensuring self-perform jobs are completed on schedule.

  1. Directly oversee the performance of workers completing specific phases of construction to meet the company standards and client expectations.
  2. Monitor the work performance and productivity of subcontractors as well as laborers and craft workers.
  3. Manage time cards, maintain timesheets and coding for laborers.
  4. Motivate/Train new workers to meet the production schedule.
  5. Schedule Christman subcontractors and material deliveries to include ready mix concrete, concrete pump trucks, rebar subcontractors and suppliers.
  6. Conduct tool box safety talks
  7. Can serve as Project Safety Team Mentor and develop subordinates.
  8. Interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders to workers and assign duties.
  9. Interpret and effectively communicate company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  10. Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) with crews.
  11. Must be competent to erect scaffolding (OSHA certification is required) and assist carpenters in ladders for structure assembly above ground.
  12. Correctly rig and hoist materials.
  13. You may be responsible for other various construction duties at the site.

Work Environment

The work is completed outside at the construction site, renovating occupied facilities such as hospitals, labs, nursing homes, etc. The position is often exposed to sounds and loud noises, such as construction equipment. The job requires they wear protective equipment when on the construction site (hardhats and safety glasses). Temperatures and conditions may vary depending on the weather and seasons.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and able to talk and hear other employee talking. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Expected Hours of Work

Full time, more than 40- hours a week. May work nights and weekends, construction may, at times, continue around the clock to meet deadlines.

Travel

Must have reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel 60 miles a day dependent on project location relative to where the employee lives.

Required Education and Experience

  1. There are no minimal educational requirements.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Proven experience as a construction foreman/forewoman.
  2. Must be authorized to work in the US and DC.
