Job Description

We are seeking a Cannabis Edibles Production Kitchen Manager who will be responsible for all facets of the development and manufacture of edibles including, but not limited to, research and development of new edible products, organizing team roles and evaluating team member performance, documenting operational tasks, performing team member reviews and assessments, and assisting with new team member onboarding and training programs. The Edibles Production Kitchen Manager will direct the routine and periodic maintenance of kitchen equipment by establishing maintenance standards and working with the Facilities department to develop a periodic maintenance schedule to ensure that the equipment is always running at peak performance. They are directly responsible for developing standards for operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures. The Edibles Production Kitchen Manager ensures staff compliance, the certification of equipment performance, and the management of equipment replacement, service, and repair.

Responsibilities:

  • Create formulations for all edible products, including determining flavor profiles, feasibility of mass productions, and quality standards.
  • Plan, direct, organize, and control the overall kitchen, including regulatory compliance, data management, implementation of new technology, and related work as required.
  • Develop and maintain kitchen policy and procedure manuals, quality procedures, standard operating procedures (SOP's), equipment specific requirements, and evaluate and implement new procedures as necessary.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure performance.
  • Work at the licensed site and assume responsibility for testing activities.
  • Prepare and/or review regulatory, managerial, and operational reports.
  • Ensure that team members are appropriately recruited, including hiring, training, daily management, discipline, and promotions.
  • Oversee facility improvements and maintenance to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Formulate objectives and priorities, implement plans, and allocate resources to achieve long-term goals of the kitchen.
  • Partner with Extraction Lab Manager to develop recipes and formulations.
  • Create dosing suggestions for production, and submit them for approval to the Director of Cannabis Production
  • Supervise Kitchen team members and assist with planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Ensure the Kitchen team members understand and execute standard operating procedures, and have ongoing training based on SOP updates.
  • Overseeing daily production and kitchen schedules to fulfill required goals.
  • Oversee scheduling for Kitchen team members, and delegation/completion of work throughout the day.
  • Complete Team member reviews based on company timelines and procedures.
  • Perform regular coaching to reward positive performance or address deficiencies.
  • Maintain and verify inventory of production supplies. Complete and submit all required reports with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain high-quality standards during shifts including constant QA/QC of all products being prepped and produced regarding weights, appearance of product, and flavor profile.
  • Evaluate the performance of the operation and make improvements to procedures or work practices to elevate the quality of products.
  • Perform and monitor all aspects of Quality Control in production.
  • Ensure accuracy in all kitchen data, counts, measurements, and weights.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and state regulations, including health and safety standards. Ensure proper storage of all facility consumables and products.
  • Store food products in compliance with safety practices. Performing quality inspections on products as assigned.
  • Minimize waste where possible. Effectively communicating information and responding to questions/suggestions from various levels within the company.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding personnel evaluation and training of the Kitchen team.
  • Assist the Director of Cannabis Production as needed. Assisting with packaging responsibilities as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with automated kitchen equipment.
  • Experience in manufacturing and formulating edible products.
  • Experience managing outside labs for testing.
  • Experience with ERP tracking software.
  • Ability to create reports and track and develop KPIs.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Ability to analyze processes and information, identify problems and trends, and develop effective solutions and strategies.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work with a diverse set of personalities and learning styles.
  • Ability to motivate a team and strong leadership qualities are required.
