Accounting Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Remote; Anywhere in the Continental US

Reports to: Financial Controller

Position: Full time, 40 hours per week, exempt employee

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000

JOB PURPOSE

The Accounting Specialist will provide accounting and administrative support for a growing organization. The primary duties of the Accounting Specialist are processing weekly business partner invoices and reconciling monthly employee expense reports. The Recycling Partnership is growing and evolving to maximize our impact, the Finance Team is a key player in helping move the organization forward and guiding strategic decision making.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS JOB

What we will trust you with - and how you will use your strengths

65% - Coordinate the weekly and monthly accounts payable processes for the organization.

  • Onboard new business partners and grantees
  • Receive, verify, and process all A/P invoices; working closely with TRP staff to ensure proper expense, cost center, and project coding
  • Ensure business partner and grantee files are kept current and up-to-date
  • Process and file annual 1099 forms
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls are being followed regarding approvals and documentation
  • Post cash disbursement journal entries to the general ledger and subledger
  • Review and export monthly employee expense reports into general ledger
  • Processes monthly corporate card payments

15% - Assist in the onboarding and training new employees into our expense reporting system

  • Assist new employees with corporate card applications
  • Train new employees on our expense reporting system (Tallie)

20% - General accounting and administrative tasks

  • Provide additional accounting and administrative support to the Finance and Business Operations Teams as needed

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS FOR THIS JOB

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as an accounting specialist, or similar
  • A 2-year (associates) degree in accounting, business, business management, or similar preferred
  • Competency in accounting and expense software, such as Sage Intacct, Bill.com, and Tallie
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, accounting standards, and industry regulations
  • Experience in a multi-entity and/or nonprofit environment preferred
  • High-level customer service skills
  • A desire to grow in an organization that is growing
