Job Description
Position: Early Learning Center Part Time Assistant Teacher
Reports To: Early Learning Center Director
Length of Contract: 12 Months
Evaluation: Annually by school policy
Position Summary:
The Early Learning Center Part Time Assistant Teacher is responsible to guide in their quest to discern God’s will for their lives at Delmarva Christian Schools. The employee must have a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ to enable them to reach students by helping develop their God-given intellectual, physical, and spiritual talents. The Early Learning Center Part Time Assistant believes that every student has been created by God uniquely and challenges them to reach their fullest potential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Vibrant, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- High School Diploma
- Must be CPR / First Aid certified
- Strong communication skills both written and verbally.
- Must meet physical requirements of the position including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities:
- Meet the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of each child.
- The Part Time Assistant Teacher should be interacting and engaging with the children throughout the day. This is done through interactive play, sitting on the floor with children (or at tables), and/or reading with children.
- Part Time Assistant Teacher should be engaging with play during outside play times.
- Toileting and changing of diapers as needed.
- Report any suspected abuse to the supervisor.
- Clean and arrange the classroom environment in accordance with program goals and philosophy, including learning centers.
- Keep the classroom clean and organized by following daily cleaning requirements.
- Maintain and turn in daily time sheets for a two week period.
- Demonstrate organizational abilities.
- Daily assignments may include coverage for other staff during breaks and planning time, clean toys and educational materials, clean common areas such as both rooms, break room, outdoor play areas, and remove garbage.
- Other duties, as assigned.
