Material Handler

Under the direction of the Production Manager, a Material Handler uses industrial equipment, such as a Forklift, Overhead Crane, Hand Dolly, along with hand tools to support the production and shipping departments. They are required to inspect materials and equipment while adhering to all safety and manufacturing standards. The job requires an organized individual that works well independently and with others. In addition, he or she must perform the job duties and responsibilities listed below while maintaining a positive working relationship with coworkers and customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These duties are those typically performed in this position. Employee may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties.

  • Follow Safety Program rules and processes.
  • Perform Forklift safety inspections.
  • Operate Forklift.
  • Operate power tools.
  • Build crates.
  • Perform receiving procedures of Unloading, Inspecting Materials, Counting, and Data Entry.
  • Identify and report inventory discrepancies.
  • Organize and maintain inventory.
  • Perform inventory Cycle Counts.
  • Perform shipping procedures by accurately counting, handling, and packaging customer orders.
  • Stock production areas with materials.
  • Loading trucks with outgoing freight.
  • Aid production with machine setups.
  • Enter data into the computer system.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Work within and promote corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or learned within a short period of time to successfully perform the assigned duties.

  • 2 years' experience operating a Forklift REQUIRED.
  • High School or equivalent diploma.
  • Very strong math skills.
  • Strong computer skills.

  • Coordinating the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers.
