*JOB TITLE: *Medical Records Clerk
Summary/Objective
The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for managing and maintaining patient medical records in compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves preparing charts, sorting, scanning, and filing medical documents into electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and fulfilling various medical record requests. The Medical Records Clerk must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in EMR systems.
Essential Functions
1. Prepare charts for upcoming appointments.
2. Sort, scan, and file all paper medical documents into appropriate EMR categories.
3. Document and fulfill patient medical record copy requests.
4. Fulfill medical records requests from insurance companies and attorneys.
5. Obtain progress notes, test results, hospital records, and other correspondence as requested by providers.
6. Answer incoming phone calls for the medical records department.
7. Perform other duties as assigned by Practice Manager, Site Supervisor, or Team Lead.
*EDUCATION: *High school diploma or GED required
*EXPERIENCE*: Prior medical records and EMR experience required
*REQUIREMENTS*: Adherence to all policies and procedures, including confidentiality, safety, performance, attendance, punctuality, and personal grooming and appearance. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to speak and write in a professional, courteous, and concise manner. Accept and utilize feedback and constructive criticism.
*SKILLS*:
· Excellent interpersonal, typing, and organizational skills
· Excellent use of computers, printers, telephones, fax machines, and other office equipment
· Ability to multi-task, be detail oriented, problem solve, and prioritize responsibilities
· Work well both independently and as a team member
· Strong knowledge of medical terminology
· Demonstrate efficient use of time and ensure work is accurate and of high quality
· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, colleagues, physicians, and the public
· Successfully manage interactions with challenging or difficult people
*Schedule:*

* 8:00AM-4:30PM
