OTR CLASS A CDL DRIVER

Class A CDL Driver

The Driver is responsible for operating company vehicles and equipment in a safe and professional manner to ensure on time delivery of products & freight to various customers. The driver completes paperwork, keeps their designated semi-trucks and trailers clean and in good condition, performs inspections of trucks & trailer. Maintains a clean and approachable appearance with a customer focused mindset.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Reports to work when scheduled and on time according to the appropriate departure times for the scheduled loads. Meets scheduled delivery times.

2. Adheres to company policies, and guidelines. Completing electronic device requirements correctly. Performs visual general vehicle inspections of truck and trailer, fuels equipment as necessary and adds Def as required.

Operates semi-tractor and trailer in a safe and professional manner to scheduled destinations.

3. Correctly utilizes electronic log device meeting hours of service requirements set by the Department of Transportation. If electronic logging system fails, completes paper backup logs.

4. Required to follow all DOT and FMCSA regulations as it pertains to hours of service, logging, Drug & Alcohol testing, CDL maintenance, and DOT Driver certification and recertification physicals.

5. Responds and communicates to dispatch and management in a timely manner. Communicates with customers and pickup/delivery personnel in a professional and respectful manner. Communicates to dispatch when experiencing long wait times, traffic issues, truck and trailer issues, breakdowns, law enforcement stops etc.

6. Ability to stay out overnights 2-3 times per week when needed.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQURIED TO PERFORM JOB: Good customer relations and verbal communication skills. Class A CDL license, must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to read and write to complete all paperwork and communications accurately. Ability to work safely in all aspects of daily requirements in the truck and at customer locations complying with all DOT regulations. This position requires constant manual and motor coordination, walking, handling, seeing, hearing, carrying, driving and requires sitting for extended periods of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Climate controlled semi-truck. Exposure to all types of weather conditions. Neat and clean appearance.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQURIED TO PERFORM JOB: Two years semi-driving experience required.
