The Okoboji Store Bar and Kitchen provides a fast-paced, energetic work environment located right on East and West Lake Okoboji. We are seeking a motivated Hospitality Intern who is outgoing, possess strong work ethic, and can provide professional, top notch service.

Position Summary

The Hospitality Intern is responsible for creating an upleveled experience for Mau Marine customers at the Okoboji Store Bar & Kitchen by giving them access to special events and VIP seating. The Intern is required to develop a marketing campaign, create processes and infrastructure to handle reservations, manage the space on event days, and champion a high level of customer satisfaction. This internship aims to provide valuable insights into guest relations, operations management, and the overall hospitality experience.

Responsibilities

The following responsibilities will be expected for this position:

  • Contribute to event planning and execution, assisting in organizing and coordinating various functions and gatherings.
  • Assist in creating a warm and welcoming environment for guests, ensuring their needs are met and inquiries addressed promptly and courteously.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house teams to support daily operations, including reservations, seating, and maintaining a presentable area.
  • Coordinate with hosts to help regulate the flow of customers during busy periods; by estimating wait times and helping to ensure that timeline.
  • Development and execution of the VIP Access Program
  • Assist in customer meetings, tours, sales, price quotes, and proposals
  • Supervisory role in reception, events, and reservations
  • Generation of new business, promotional materials, guest database, and promotional events
  • Participate in team meetings, offering insights and suggestions for improving service efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Hospitality Management or related field is preferred
  • Prior experience in hospitality, customer service, or a related field is a plus
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, staff, and management
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Enthusiastic about delivering exceptional customer service
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
