Description
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with an interest in science or engineering, who are looking to jump-start their career in the biopharmaceutical industry. The biopharmaceutical manufacturing associate apprenticeship program allows you to develop hands-on skills and knowledge to support the production of our life-saving medicines while continuing your education and studying towards nationally recognized qualifications.

Working at our biopharmaceutical manufacturing site, you will help to ensure we have the latest, safe, efficient, and reliable processes and equipment to deliver life-saving medicines and vaccines to people in 90 % of the world’s countries. This role will enable you to develop your skills in an industry that’s making radical changes to the way it develops and manufactures products.


Key Responsibilities
Over the course of this paid 4-year program, you will spend part of your week gaining hands-on training from our in-house industry experts learning how our products are made in order to be able to confidently support manufacturing new and existing products, process controls & validation as well as process improvement work. Depending on your preferences, strengths and ambition, this apprenticeship could lead to many career directions including manufacturing or process technologist, equipment and automation support, operations management and operational quality.

Your role may involve:

· Performing complex manufacturing processes in a highly automated, regulated environment – ensuring quality, safety and accuracy in all that we do

· Operating bioreactors, chromatography columns, parts washers, and autoclaves, to make our products

· Preparing media and buffer solutions for the manufacturing processes

· Monitoring and analyzing production processes and data, utilizing various instruments and control systems

· Working in teams to continuously improve the functionality of our automated equipment and processes

You will study part-time towards an Associate’s degree (AAS) in Biotechnology or Engineering Technology at one of GSK’s partnering community colleges fully funded by GSK- NO COLLEGE DEBT. Upon completion of the program, you will also receive a Certificate of Apprenticeship Completion from the US Department of Labor, an industry-issued, portable nationally recognized credential that certifies occupational proficiency.

What qualifications do you need?

To be eligible for our biopharmaceutical manufacturing associate apprenticeship program, you will need:

· Must have earned a high school diploma or equivalency diploma by June 2024 

· High school GPA 2.5 (“B”) or above (4.0 scale)

· High school Math and English math (GPA 2.5 or above in each case)

· High school Chemistry or Biology (GPA 2.5 or above)

· Have studied AP Chemistry or Biology in High School is preferred

· Having studied technology, robotics, shop at High School is preferred


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Additional requirements:

· At least 18 years old by August 1st, 2024

· Less than 2 years of related work experience since graduating from high school

· If offered a position the candidate must be willing to enroll and meet the entry requirements of our partner community college for related training instruction

· Must be able to commute daily to the GSK manufacturing facility and related technical institution
