LEAD OFFICER JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title

  • Security Supervisor

Reports to

  • Security Manager

Function

  • Supervises the security operations on assigned shift when the manager is not on duty.
  • Ensures shift operates smoothly and efficiently and that crewmembers, guests and entire property are secure and protected.
  • Coordinates the security response to emergency situations that may result in liability for Treasure Bay Casino & Hotel.
  • Must be able to obtain or currently possess Mississippi Gaming license.

Duties

  • Determines shift staffing needs and assigns officers to various posts as needed. Makes certain that time and attendance sheets are completed accurately and submitted to administration on a timely basis.
  • Assigns officers to daily tasks and ensures completion.
  • In the absence of the security supervisor, they will fill-in and perform duties as needed.
  • Holds daily briefings with officers prior to the beginning of the shift to announce policy and procedural changes, upcoming events and other job related information. Also oversees ongoing training.
  • When in the position of primary supervisor, will communicate daily with other supervisors about changes, observations, suggestions, etc., which concern the supervision of the security department.
  • Manages training and development of officers to ensure they have the skills necessary to become supervisors. Additionally, administers training to new officers.
  • Will document, for the shift supervisor, any substandard performance by any security officer. If the performance is that which needs immediate attention, the chain of command will be followed for the next highest supervisor to be contacted to remedy the situation.
  • Checks radios and conducts daily inventory of radios and equipment.
  • Oversees Lost and Found, ensuring all found property is logged and properly safeguarded.
  • Ensures all claimed property is returned to the rightful owner or valuable items are placed in a secure area and other items are brought to the Lost and Found room at the end of the shift.
  • Maintains responsibility and security of Treasure Bay Hotel & Casino keys. Investigates missing keys and allows entry for those persons who have misplaced keys.
  • Responds to all emergency calls requiring paramedics or outside agencies. Authorizes and initiates all direct contact with outside agencies.
  • During emergencies, responds the appropriate command centers assuming direct command of emergency procedures until executive staff arrives and then performs the role of advisor until a supervisor arrives.
  • Ensures all on-the-job injuries are attended to by staff and that accident reports are subsequently filed.
  • Frequently patrols and inspects casino, hotel and outside facilities.
  • Handles hotel and guest complaints and disputes, notifying appropriate supervisors and conducting further investigations as needed.
  • Checks for safety hazards. When hazardous situations are identified, ensures that work orders are submitted and the problems are corrected.
  • Keeps records on security personnel on shift so that efficient reviews/evaluations can be made.
  • Makes reports to shift supervisors on all matters concerning the property’s security and safety of guests that could result in a liability suit. Also reports any actions, deeds or misconduct of officers of the security department or other crewmember which could affect the operation of the company.
  • As the security supervisor, will have the added duty of being the shift’s delegated trainer.
  • Follow-up with trainees will continue to ensure compliance with procedural operations.

Job Requirements

  • Prior security experience in a casino/hotel environment for a minimum of one year.
  • Familiar with state and local laws pertaining to law enforcement and gaming.
  • Have demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
  • Possess above average communication skills.
  • Able to complete all required reports.
  • Familiar with all security related equipment and their uses.
  • Should be in good health and physically able to perform duties.
  • Possesses all required federal, state and local identification.
  • Continuously exhibits and conveys a positive morale through communication. A demonstration of excellent work ethics, appearance and productivity.
  • Will dress in business attire that portrays professionalism to be able to interact with guests and other management personnel.
  • Other job duties as directed by upper management.
