Job Summary:

The Director of Lift Maintenance will lead and manage the Crested Butte Lift Maintenance Department in alignment with Crested Butte and Vail Resorts standards and philosophy and will lead his team and the resort to the highest degree of safety, drive on-time completion for all maintenance and repairs, be a change management expert, and develop talent as a critical priority. This person will manage the preventative, routine, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance of all lifts at Crested Butte Mountain Resort in a proactive, safe and efficient manner; provide oversight of future lift construction and special projects as assigned by the Director of Mountain Operations and VP/GM; provide the quality and service required by regulatory agencies and maintain the standards set forth by Vail Resorts and partner with the USFS. This person will engage in and lead best practices for the resort.  The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and successfully lead a staff of experienced individuals, enabling the highest levels of execution and job satisfaction while working toward a one team culture and effectiveness.

  • The budgeted range starts at $82,800 - $106,425 + annual bonus + equity.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring the lifts are in compliance with ANSI/OSHA/NEC, Insurance and Vail Resorts policies and regulations.
  • Responsible for conduct, training, department policies, Vail Resorts policies, thorough knowledge of all policies in Policy Tech, and ensuring that all tasks and procedures are completed in a timely, thorough and professional manner.
  • Responsible for the oversight and planning of all mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Responsible for annual licensing of all lifts prior to winter operations.
  • Responsible for compliance and ownership of department budgets and notifying Director of Mountain Operations and VP/GM of financial variances in a timely manner. 
  • Plan for future development and capital improvements of all lift systems and continually update and advise Director of Mountain Operations and VP/GM on the long-term goals for lift system upgrades.
  • Responsible for summer and winter preventative maintenance programs that include inspection of work performed to maximize lift safety and reliability, and working with outside agencies and vendors to ensure that all work is done and compliant.
  • Ensure that all required records are maintained and kept up to date. This includes, but is not limited to, all mechanical and operational procedures, maintenance and operations logs, lift deficiencies, failures and incidents, and downtime logs. 

 

Job Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Strong project management experience
  • Foundation of knowledge surrounding mechanical/electrical engineering
  • Management experience in Lift Operations and/or Lift Maintenance and/or Mountain Operations (Min 10 years preferred)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Lift Mechanical/Lift Electrical systems and Lift Operations
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Strong knowledge of desktop computer systems and applications
  • Understanding of budgets and has a financial acumen
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of ANSI and OSHA regulatory codes and agencies
  • Intermediate/advanced level skier/snowboarder

 

 

The expected pay range is $82,800 - $106,425 + annual bonus + equity. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
