Title: Product Specialist - Small Rotary

About us:

As a member of the ITS-A Compression Systems and Services Product Management team, the Product Specialist will be an integral part of driving the key strategic growth of our industrial products. The candidate will develop and apply their skills through product application and competitive positioning expertise; the development of digital tools that empower sales teams; advocating for customer needs as interface to Product Growth Teams; knowledge enhancement through education of sales teams and channel partners enabling them to deliver profitable growth. This position features a focus on support of the Gardner Denver, Champion and DV Systems Small Horsepower Oil Lubricated Rotary product portfolio (5 - 60HP) along with administration, training and support of our customer intranet (GDInside), public websites and CPQ system (CC360) across the Compressor product portfolio.




Job Summary:

With respect to support of Small Horsepower Oil Lubricated Rotary products, the Product Specialist also supports other activities such as new product launches, product lifecycle management, pricing management, product forecasting and development of product tools, communications and training under the Gardner Denver family of brands and channels. The Product Specialist will also be involved in Impact Daily Management (IDM) and process improvement towards a better customer support experience. The candidate will work closely with Product Managers, Sales Leadership, and Marketing team to help identify and close gaps needed to deliver superior product support to our channel partners.



Responsibilities:

  • Product Support: Expected continuous development of knowledge to become an expert on current product, competitive product, markets and applications. Understanding the key advantages and programs and how these all benefit the customer. Provide support and assistance to all areas of the business including customers, distribution, customer care, outside sales, operations and engineering in the specification, development and commercialization of the product line. Serve as conduit between manufacturing and sales for pre-sales support of lead-times and availability.
  • Strategic: Participates in the development and implementation of strategic action plans for growth and profitability. This includes short and long-range strategic product and marketing plans that identify new market segments, growth opportunity and technologies. It also includes assisting with new product development projects and initiatives that support overall strategic goals.
  • NPD, i2V & Offering Execution: For assigned products and offerings, execute new product commercialization into channels in accordance with NA Launch Plans and Gate requirements. Participate in the NPD process working with the Product Management team and across distribution channels.
  • Sales Training and Tool Development: Support content development and deployment of product value proposition and competitive positioning through collateral, videos and training communications to sales channel with pertinent information designed to enhance selling capabilities.
  • Operational: Works within a cross-functional team in the specification, development, and commercialization of new products, programs and updates to business systems. Ensures products, programs and projects launched to the market and operational plan supports expected outcomes. Provides input on forecast, adoption of plans and financial performance on a monthly basis to the manufacturing plants.
  • Margin Growth: Manage and help deliver top line revenue and margin contribution through effective product discount management.
  • Pricing: Update and maintenance of pricing tools such as SAP, price books, and product sizing software.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 4 year bachelor’s degree (engineering or business degree preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering or commercial support role for industrial equipment preferred
  • Experience with B2B or channel distribution preferred
  • Some travel may be required: up to 20%
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Office with strong analytical skills
  • Experience with Sales Force and/or other online platforms
  • Understands commercial aspect of interfacing with customers to deliver a solution to meet their needs.
