Job Description
Occupational Therapist Assistants in Taylor, MI, US support individuals with physical, emotional, and cognitive disabilities, illnesses, or traumas in their daily activities. They assist patients in regaining or maintaining the necessary skills and independence through the use of specialized equipment and therapeutic techniques. OTAs work in various care settings, including homes, to empower patients and enhance their autonomy.
Compensation:$40 - $50 hourly
Responsibilities:- Guides clients in compensating for limitations with the goal of improving their quality of life, such as helping injured workers to improve motor skills and regain their ability to work
- Performs rehabilitative services to those with physical, mental, emotional, or developmental impairments under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist
- Obtains client details by interviewing and recording medical histories and the purpose of treatment
- Implements treatment plans and instructions manufactured in partnership with the therapist, demonstrating proper procedure for movement and stretching exercises
- Monitors clients' activities for accuracy and encourages them to continue with the plan
- Records client progress and billing information for use by the occupational therapist
- Ensures a safe and healthy working environment by following standards and procedures and adhering to legal requirements
- Keeps supplies ready by ordering and verifying stock receipts
- Maintains equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and calling for repairs
- Upholds the occupational therapy standard by complying with professional policies and regulations
- Enhances practice reputation by taking ownership of requests and opportunities to increase job value
