Responsibilities include:

· Teaching 3-week Middle School Summer English course to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

· Providing an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and the emotional development of young women

· Integrates technology effectively into reading, writing, and classroom practices

· Effective and consistent communication with students, parents, staff, and community

· Develops, selects, and differentiates instruction to meet the needs of a diverse populations

· Providing an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and the emotional development of young women

· Using student choice in reading as well as teacher directed texts

· Maintaining appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices

Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in related field required with teaching experience in various levels of secondary education 6-12. Master’s Degree preferred; MSDE certification preferred

· Teaching experience at the middle grades level

· Mastery of English grammar, writing, and reading

· Ability to connect to students, to curriculum, to the world

· Commitment to embrace the school’s mission and values

· Genuine enthusiasm, personal warmth and passion for teaching and inspiring a love of learning

· Experience using a variety of pedagogical strategies

· Collaborative spirit to develop and plan curricula

· Proven experience engaging students in literary experiences that foster deeper thinking, collaboration, and shared responsibility
