Position: Project Architect (2759)

Location: Washington, D.C.

We have:

Luxus has partnered with a firm that has proudly been in business for 84 years and is one of the oldest active practices in Washington, D.C, located just two blocks from the White House. They are searching for a Project Architect to join their growing team.

The firm specializes in various projects, including Mixed-Use, Multi-Family, Commercial, Student Living, Hospitality, and Urban planning.

You have:

  • Architectural licensure and LEED certification are preferred.
  • Minimum 8-year experience and a minimum of 4 completed projects comparable to their typical projects.
  • Proven leadership in managing project workflow and ability to collaborate with senior-level team members.
  • Experience in design, building construction, building codes, and zoning regulations.
  • Extensive experience with REVIT, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and M.S. Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

You will:

  • Lead and independently coordinate the work of a multidiscipline team through various phases of a project.
  • Consult with the client and senior leadership of the team. Ensure the quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards for the in-house team and consultant work product.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the overall design intent of the project established is incorporated into the detailed documentation.
  • Initiate and develop the design or technical documentation preparation and tasks under the supervision of the senior project architect and senior project designer.
  • Monitor the design process from the conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring the design intent is consistent and properly executed.
  • Responsible for technical resolution and coordination of the project.
  • Work with Specification Writer to develop specifications and is responsible for the coordination of drawings and specifications.
  • Set overall strategy for document production and identify the sheets planned for each stage of the work through the utilization of “cartoon set.” This includes defining how data will be organized into files and which elements will be incorporated in their documentation tools (software).
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team and client.
  • Responsible for communication with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to incorporate all necessary information into project requirements and provide support as required.
  • Supervise the preparation of technical drawings by team members.
  • Lead in team meetings to help resolve project issues, coordinate with other disciplines, and schedule adherence and technical issues.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting minutes of all project-related meetings.
  • Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
  • Work primarily on one project under the supervision of the Project Manager, Senior Project Architect, and Senior Project Designer.
