Overview

OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to join our Corporate Payroll department. The position will be involved in various aspects of the payroll function for company-wide, domestic, multi-state payroll processing including importing time, calculating and processing various pay types, payroll processing and funding, reconciling taxes and preparing tax filings, answering federal, state, and local tax inquiries, reporting on payroll data, cross-training with administrators, assisting in system and process improvement implementations and completing audit work. Maintains a thorough knowledge of MDC Policy and Federal, State, Local laws and regulations.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Process bi-weekly, company-wide domestic payroll under 3 or more FEINs in multiple states for ~2,000 exempt and non-exempt employees using Ultimate Software (UKG) systems

* Duties will include full-cycle payroll processing tasks including reviewing/calculating time entries, bonus payments, commissions, overtime calculations, employee expense reimbursements, 3rd party sick pay reconciliations, aircraft income calculations, calculating tax on stock transactions, deductions, garnishments, and the like, in addition to general ledger and account reconciliations, funding wires, manual checks, tax filings and tax payments, quarter and year-end jurisdictional reporting and compliance surveys, legal and risk management requests, workers comp audits, annual audits and other reporting

* Collects and reviews source documents for commissions, bonuses, terms, and other miscellaneous data and pay types and documents for key controls. Creates bi-weekly templates for loading data into UKG payroll system. Works with divisions and departments to ensure accuracy of data prior to processing bi-weekly payroll

* Ensure compliance with all internal policies and controls as well as compliance with external laws and regulatory guidance, including Sarbanes-Oxley

* Assist payroll manager in preparing tax filings and reconciliations, resolving tax issues, as well as quarter/year-end reporting and compliance, preparing/reviewing W2s, 941s, amendments, and general tax items

* Assist payroll manager with monthly reports for accounting, producing labor distribution reports, and completing multiple worksite reports and other required governmental surveys and reports

* Assist payroll manager in preparing workers' compensation audits and works with internal and external auditors during annual audits

* Manage escalated employee payroll issues and provide solutions, including SUI reporting, VOEs, data requests

* Work closely with Accounting, Benefits, HR, and other Departments to ensure excellent communication and coverage of all payroll related items

* Research payroll issues, problem-solve and respond to various payroll inquiries in a timely manner and provides excellent customer service to all employees and departments

* Drive automation through participation in on-going automation projects over commissions, timekeeping, going paperless, electronic payments, and the like to eliminate manual processes and encourage best practices

* Develop procedures, documentation, and efficiencies through best practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Education: Associate's degree or higher and/or equivalent combination of education and experience

* Experience: 5+ years of multi-state full-cycle payroll experience; Knowledge of payroll tax laws and experience with payroll tax filings a plus

* Technology: Ultimate Software (UKG) / Ultipro / Kronos experience is advantageous (WorkForce Mgmt, CORE, Back Office, Business Intelligence). Systems implementation and/or automation experience a plus

* Strong Excel/MS Office Suite skills required, including strong excel skills (formulas, pivots, vlookups, etc.); will be handling complex calculations in large spreadsheets

* Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and independent strong work ethic; ability to investigate and identify system issues, pay issues and resolve payroll problems

* Demonstrated ability to multi-task and orientation to detail is critical; handle deadlines and volume; Excellent problem-solving skills with

* Excellent communicator with the ability to develop relationships across the organization; Calm and collaborative demeanor, team oriented, have natural curiosity, eager, willing to help other team members; Good interpersonal and time management skills necessary

* Pay Range: $75K - $90K plus Bonus. On-site with a hybrid component once fully trained
