Biomedical Engineer Compensation
The pay for this position is $41.67 per hour
Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment
A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates

Biomedical Engineer Responsibilities
To ensure that our cell analysis products deliver outstanding performance and exceed our customers’ expectations, BD Biosciences is seeking a passionate and capable Systems Verification Engineer to contribute to a cross-disciplinary product development team.
The Systems Verification Engineer participates in the definition, design, and execution of verification activities in the product development process for BD Biosciences instrument systems. This includes the design of test methods and test strategies, development and execution of verification protocols, analysis and interpretation of results, and communication of results and their impact through written reports, design reviews, and interactive discussions. The Systems Verification Engineer III is a hands-on testing and problem-solving role that will be involved in conducting experiments using flow cytometry.
Primary duties include:
• Develop and write system verification test methods to evaluate product requirements
• Execution of system verification activities on instrument projects.
• Represent the department on collaborative projects by elevating customers need and product quality
• Exercise independent judgment and apply solution thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting
• Conduct representative sample prep and flow cytometry experiments to test products
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customer workflows, scientific advancements in flow cytometry, and the competitive landscape
• Escalate top issues by providing clear, well-structured, high-level updates
Biomedical Engineer Requirements
B.S. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Engineering or related discipline
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in systems verification and validation principles or studies while working in biotech, pharma industry, clinical research, or other relevant industry
Hands on experience operating and troubleshooting BD Flow Cytometers, Cell Analyzers and Cell Sorters with knowledge of applications, software, and assay panel development
Strong knowledge of flow cytometry applications and assay development.
Able to work with human blood or blood products, with strong lab benchwork skills and meticulous sample handling and prep
Experience following signed protocols, standard operating procedures, and adhering to quality/ regulatory requirements
Basic knowledge of statistics with experience analyzing scientific data
Ability to quickly grasp the functionality and interdependencies of complex multidisciplinary
systems, to include lasers, optics, fluidics, electro-mechanical devices, software, algorithms, biological samples, and biochemistry.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with others in a multi-disciplinary team
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Attention to detail
Proficient in data extraction, manipulation, interpretation, and presentation
Ability to prepare and process biological samples in a wet-lab Biosafety Level 2 Laboratory
Experience operating flow cytometers, analyzers and sorters
Experience with FACS Diva software
Ability to follow written protocol and document result
Desired:
MS or Ph.D. degree in Biology, Immunology, Biomedical Engineering or in a related discipline.
Apply systematic troubleshooting and debugging skills, practice in “systems thinking” problem solving approaches
Experience in product development process and design control within the medical device industry
Experience in product development process and design control
Experience working within a regulated medical device industry
