Intern - Procurement

Your education is just the beginning - you'll become an active member of our Procurement team and located in Pittsburgh, PA. During our 12-week internship program, you'll tackle real-world challenges through impactful assignments, and work alongside our industry changemakers.

The Intern - Procurement will work closely with the Procurement team (and at times with the Finance/IT teams) to automate data analytics reports that will provide updates about our progress and results to senior management. Data is a critical tool for Howmet Fastening Systems Procurement. Leveraging data provides timely, accurate and actionable business insights and empowers Procurement's ability to improve forecasting, reduce risk and measure impact at the bottom line. We rely on insightful data to understand patterns, determine best course of action and communicate results.

Intern Impact Project: Streamline and Automation of Reports

To assist us in achieving this goal, we are seeking a computer/data analyst intern to do the following:

• Streamline and Automate two existing reports (Raw Material PPV and Indirect Spend Reports) that integrate multiple data sources.
• Build an 'On-Time Delivery' automated report that analyzes vendor performance in terms of reliable delivery.
• Build PowerBI Dashboards that augments this data into one central hub that has interactive graphs, diagrams and charts and effectively communicate insights.
• The process and solutions will be presented to management at the close of the 12-week program.

This will be achieved by:

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance data analytics capabilities and drive data-driven decision making.
• Optimizing performance and data retrieval processes to ensure efficient reporting.
• Mining, interpreting, and cleansing our data. Looking for trends and patterns to connect the dots and uncover hidden opportunities for realizing the data's full potential.

In addition to your impact project work, you'll have the opportunity to:

• Present to Howmet Fastening Systems management (V.P. and Directors of Procurement)
• Learn the industry standards, procedures, and technologies.
• Interact with the other members of the Howmet Fastening Systems Procurement team and learn the roles/responsibilities of all the team members.
• Collaborate with the Finance and IT teams.
• Use of Microsoft standard productivity platform applications for daily activities and interactions
• Share best practices from across Howmet or other industries.

Your Education, Skills, and Experience:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field with an expected graduation date in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent
• Demonstrated internship, work, research, or extracurricular participation
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Interns must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Educations, Skills, and Experience:

• Previous internship in procurement with a global employer
• Data mining as well as mathematical and statistical analysis.
• Proficiency in with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint & PowerPoint), PowerBI, SQL, or other relevant tools
• Awareness of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) management systems (Oracle), Financial management systems (Hyperion) or other relevant tools
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills
• Attention to details.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• A driving passion to transform complex data sets.
