The Data Enablement - Data Governance team plays a critical role in helping SoFi realize its ambitions by building foundational technology that unlocks industry-leading experiences for SoFi Members.
The role:
As a Senior Staff Technical Program Manager - Data Governance at SoFi, you will focus on delivery of key initiatives in data classification, metadata management, data sharing and data quality. This role will require you to collaborate with cross-functional leaders in engineering, product, design, and business to drive data technology decisions, innovations, and implementation. Additionally, you will play a key role in ensuring SoFi meets all regulatory requirements and protects the data of its members by fostering and promoting best practices in data governance through evangelizing and collaborating with stakeholders across other lines of defense. The ideal candidate for this role will have a deep understanding of data governance and best practices, familiarity with regulatory and privacy requirements, and strong technical skills in data technologies such as SQL, Snowflake, Airflow, and Spark. Strong partnership skills, excellent communication and collaboration abilities, and the ability to deliver programs that improve SoFi's overall data posture will be a key to success in this role.

Key responsibilities:
- Partner with key stakeholders across the organization to implement data governance capabilities, working closely with engineering teams to establish infrastructure and tooling that enable teams across SoFi to comply with governance requirements and improve data quality.
- Drive adoption and compliance programs across business units, using customer feedback to continuously improve and refine the tooling.
- Establish and implement monitoring protocols and key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs) to measure the impact of the applied data governance and identify key organizational risks.
- Communicate the program status to key stakeholders and business leadership.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree or higher with an engineering and technical discipline.
- 9+ years of experience in technical (software, data, engineering) program management.
- Ability to deliver large scale, enterprise-level, cross-cutting programs.
- Strong technical skills with data technologies and concepts such as SQL, Python, Snowflake, Airflow, Spark, Data Mesh, etc.
- Experience influencing stakeholders and executive leadership through strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills
- Strong sense of ownership and bias for action.
- Ability to effectively partner with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in data governance; handling compliance, and/or technology risk management.
- A solid understanding of regulations like CCPA, GDPR, and emerging privacy regulations.
